When Argoth fell to the floor, Rii was quick to soften it by keeping her arms around him. "Shock..." she observed under her breath before gently laying him down. He felt so very different in her human arms. Quickly she reached out to her voices, and after a few seconds pause they answered her. Bruised ribs, aggravation to his sternum stab wound, a machete cut, scalded back, and a severe burn on his right forearm. "Burns," Rii remarked bitterly, all too familiar with how to cure those.
First came the bleeding. The machete cut wasn't too deep, just a few stitches for the very middle of the wound and then some disinfectant. She wouldn't even have to bandage it once it was clean. Unwrapping his chest, she addressed the stab wound. Luckily it was still stitched, but aggravated nonetheless. Once she'd cleaned the blood and re-applied some disinfecting salve, she was done with that and could rewrap it. "But burns on the back," she whispered, slowly turning him over so she could start healing his wounds. Well, the burns were nothing compared to Thell's, so they would heal. The arm might have light scarring, much like Mathayus from the night in Kakariko village, but it wouldn't be as bad as Thell's either. His arm would still resemble and arm and be roughly skin colored in a few weeks. She only had a few ingredients on her, but the room they were in was likely an infirmary during more dangerous performances at the amphitheater, considering all the supplies that were there, some of which were utilized by Zast to make the potion.
So once she took the ingredients, she was able to make up some more salves to cover all the burns. "Okay, almost done," she whispered. "Argoth, you..." She paused, hands clenching a roll of bandages. "You're... I'll tell you when you wake up." She needed to wrap his chest again.
This time she went for his entire chest, knowing she'd have to put ice to his ribs and needed something to keep the ice from having direct contact with the skin. With one layer of wrappings on, she pulled out her cool jelly ice-substitute and lathered it on before wrapping his chest again. Next came the arm, which she gingerly wrapped despite the fact that he was unconscious. Her fingers were much more nimble without the webbing, but her hair kept falling in front of her eyes. For the moment she loosely tied it back with a small strip of cotton bandage, before continuing, gingerly icing and putting on salves to his arm.
Ozzy was still lost in all the pandemonium in the arena as people ran around while the more calm ones went to investigate the corpses. She ended up aggressively shoving to go look herself.
"These are highly trained mercenaries," one man observed in awe when he caught sight of a subtle tattoo on the inside of the acrobat's ankle.
"Who threatened a talented fighter's apprentice and his lover," Ozzy observed with a rather pleased grin. Her uncle, too, but she highly doubted that was Argoth's motivation for the death spree.
"Madame Weslow won't be pleased when they cancel the performance," the performer observed.
"Oh that's not happening. If the mercenaries were not hired out they take blame for these actions directly and if Madame Weslow is anything she is a legally ruthless old bitch and she will cart off dirtied performers and replace them in ten seconds, so long as the rest of her guards gather the other performers," Ozzy cackled, watching as the woman in purple stormed into the room, already screeching orders and scaring guards off into the crowds of fleeing people to stop them and maintain order.
"Good, good... why does this one have the dungeon keys?" the man asked as he fished out the ring from Leon's corpse.
Ozzy narrowed her eyes. Dungeon keys... they were keeping her uncle and the kid closer than she thought. "Did you see which way the man left after he finished with these three?" Ozzy inquired, and with a nod to one of the exits, Ozzy took off.
"This kids insane," the second guard whispered, voice stiff with horror.
"Sure. And stupid. I take all things free," the first responded while gritting his teeth before stepping forth to stab through the bars at the bared throat.
Zast knew it was too late for him when she entered the dungeons. Something was very wrong with that boy, somethin the first guard had not noticed, but Zast had. Hopefully with Revel and the second guard's assistance she'd be able to kill him. Because without the zora girl's magic, there was no hope for them to gather whatever was lurking inside the nine-year-old.

As soon as the guard's hand intruded into Max's cage it was all over. Demon Max shot an arm out faster than the human eye could register, latching onto the guards arm right at the elbow joint. He yanked the guard hard enough for him to slam up against the bars. Demon Max was now only a foot away. "Don't look so surprised. You wanted this," he growled with pleasure. And with inhuman strength the grip on the guard's arm tightened with significant force. The bones in his arm could be heard beginning to snap. "Go ahead, scream," Max began at a low whisper as the guard began to cry out in pain, "Call for help. Beg for your life. It will not help you." Demon Max tightened his grip once again and the this time it was clear that the bone was severed. With another yank his arm disconnected at the elbow with a sickening sound. The screams from the guard would have been audible anywhere in the amphitheater probably, but even with his arm no longer holding him near the cage Demon Max would not let him go. Before he could fall back away from the cage Demon Max moved forward and snatched the collar of the guard's tunic. His head was pressed in between the bars with enough force to cause pain but no skull fractures. A supernaturally evil grin spread across Demon Max's face and with one headbutt the guard was dead. His entire cranium caved inward with enough momentum to spray brain matter and blood all over Demon Max and the cell he was in. Demon Max began to laugh maniacally while he let the guard's body slide down the bars.
Argoth wasn't out for long. Or perhaps at all really. When Rii had gently carried him to the floor it was true that his mind made an attempt to shut down, but Argoth knew that the danger of this situation was not over. He could not afford to let go just yet. While Rii patched him up he fought long and hard to stay conscious. Even if his body was trying its best to force him to be the opposite. When his body stopped shaking from the shock, due to Rii's incomparable healing abilities, Argoth opened his eyes.
What he saw was not the zora that had been taken by the mercenary woman earlier. Rii had somehow become human when the exchange happened. However it happened. Rii didn't notice his eyes were open while she continued to work on him. He dare not move for fear of another outburst of pain. Rii had done her best in subsiding a large quantity of it, which he appreciated greatly. Besides, he wasn't sure he could move even if he wanted to.
While he was laying quietly on the ground Argoth really got a chance to look at the new Rii. She was beautiful. She may no longer have been a zora but Argoth didn't care. All he was concerned about was how she felt about the change. But right now, all she was concerned about was fixing him up and getting Max. After a long while of sitting in silence and admiring Rii's new appearance Argoth finally spoke.
"Tell me what?" he asked.

The first guard crumpled to the floor, and the flute boy grew paler and paler. Zast wondered if he had more magic than charming instruments, perhaps something to do with resembling dying white roses, because it looked as if he was about to curl in on himself and wilt. "D-demon," the remaining guard stuttered, pressing himself against the wall.
"What woke him up?" Zast snapped, eyes narrowed as she stalked over to the guard.
"I-I-I fell asleep," Revel whispered with wide eyes. "B-b-broke the s-song."
Zast's eyes were slits. It was too late to put him back to sleep now. She'd severely underestimated the magic in the boy as she eyed the severed limb of one of her fallen comrades. In fact, she wasn't really sure if magic kept whatever lurked inside him alive. It wasn't so much a magical source as it was a foreboding monster. "How did either of you make the cut... ah, right, magic flute. But you? Grow a pair. He's a child. Kill him like one."
"What about the mmmagic you were supposed to r-retrieve?" Revel inquired, glancing at her.
"Nothing. The potion killed her perfectly and nothing came off her corpse." Zast scowled. "But maybe something will come off his. Now go. Get in there and murder him. Don't let him trap you," she whispered to the guard, who swallowed hard and tightened the grip on his sword. Wary, Zast palmed the top of a small wooden rod wrapped to her waist as she watched him approach with a key.
Trying to keep his distance, the guard slid the key into the cage door and quickly turned and opened it, hoping to get inside and close it fast as possible. He imagined Zast would have his head if he left it open for the demon child to escape, though he wondered how much he feared Zast's wrath compared to what lurked in the cage.
Revel shakily gripped his flute and brought it to his lips, playing a timid, melancholy tune. He wasn't sure what exactly to do but play in hopes it would do something. Perhaps distract the nine-year-old. He wasn't sure, but there was a dark storm in Zast's eyes. She was worried too.
Rii pulled back when Argoth suddenly spoke. "I thought you might've woken. Your breathing had changed. But my voices hadn't..." She paused, thinking it over slowly and skillfully yet unintentionally avoiding, for the moment, her answer. "My voices... hadn't...said anything. Sorry, Argoth, one moment." Rii tied off the bandage on his chest and sat back, staring at him pensively. Argoth... Hylian... Male... Her green eyes grew wide. It couldn't be... Why were her voices fading? Furrowing her new eyebrows and fighting the urge to do it again because of the new sensation, Rii leaned over Argoth and picked up the goblet the potion had been in. A few drops remained, and she stared at it intensely, wondering if perhaps it was simply because she'd already examined Argoth.
Just this one last time... for now, sweetheart. One last time? You are not zora anymore, great-grandaughter. She was currently human, that was true. Our blood does not flow in you as directly as it once did, my distant child. Rii wasn't sure what to do as she clutched the goblet. We will fade in moments. To return, you must return to your zora state. But before we vanish, we will help you this last time. Rii realized they were talking about the potion clinging to the inside of the goblet. With a nod and a swallow she shifted the cup in her hands and stared at the purple liquid. Gle-udros. Meant to permanently reap the body of all magical traces before killing the consumer and releasing the magic in the form of a colored vapor for potential collection.
She was supposed to be dead. The Twili magic she supposedly carried was supposed to be gone. "I suppose, Argoth, what I should tell you is that under normal circumstances both you and I would be dead at this moment."

Argoth managed a smile at the newly human Rii and said, "These aren't normal circumstances." Then his smile faded, and a look of sadness and regret washed over his face. His voice lowered to an apologetic tone as he started again. "Listen, Rii...I'm sorry about what happened..I should have never let them take you. I knew something was off about this deal but I didn't act fast enough. If only I had gotten here sooner...maybe you would still have your voices."
Demon Max looked eagerly at his new victim that was entering his cage. Smiling wickedly Demon Max began to taunt the poor soul, "You look frightened. Well you shouldn't be, your boss is right I am just a boy. Why don't you come over here and finish me huh?" Demon Max spread his arms out wide as if he were to enter an embrace.

Rii smiled, almost bitterly, as she rolled the goblet between her fingers. "That's true. There's not usually so much kidnapping and Twili magic and mercenaries involved all at once," Rii admitted, though she still wondered about her previous statement. She was supposed to be dead. Argoth would have likely died without her instant medical attention. There was nothing magical about that. But how was she alive, especially in this new, scale-less body?
And then he brought up her voices. "Losing my voices has nothing to do with you. You went through this for me, and that's more than enough," she assured him, reaching over to put a hand on his shoulder. "I'll simply have to... adjust to having my mind all to myself." But the hollowness inside her brain was already starting to eat at her. It felt so lonely inside her head.
Slowly, she set the goblet down and turned fully in her seat on the ground to face Argoth once more. "Honestly, you come to find me and suffer burns and slashes and still think you should be the one apologizing," Rii observed with a laugh, sliding the hand on his shoulder up to his face. She opened her mouth to say something else, but at that moment the door open.
"Of course you're in the very last room in the hallway," Ozzy said as she leaned in the doorway.
"Sorry. Next time I will inform the captor to choose a closer door," Rii apologized in all seriousness.
Ozzy furrowed her brows at it suddenly hit her. She pointed an accusing hand, with a ring of keys still in its grasp, at Rii. "You're not zora anymore!"
Rii blinked once before slowly shaking her head. "No... no, you're right... but what do you have?"
Ozzy grinned, easily over the mystery of Rii's transformation for now. "The key to the kid and my uncle. Should I bring the small one back here for you guys, because I'm heading down?"
The guard Max was speaking to was far more cautious than the first, though whether or not that would prove to be his undoing was unclear. So, he slowly made his way forward, sword in his left hand, eyes constantly flicking all over the cell, just in case he needed to... well, do something, though what he wasn't sure. The kid was bound to be unpredictable.
Soon he was within a few feet, and he pulled back his sword arm to lunge at the "boy" and pierce him through the chest.

When Rii mentioned all of his bodily injuries Argoth couldn't help but smile slightly. It was true he had gone through a lot of bodily harm to rescue her, but Argoth would have done it again. "It's not over just yet," he replied with a smile. He began to sit up and the pain that had recently been suppressed flared once more. Argoth winced but continued on until he as upright. Then Ozzy entered the room mentioning that she was going to get her uncle and Max.
"Wait, let me go with you."
Argoth had no idea about the status of his young apprentice. The last thing he wanted was Ozzy to walk into more guards, or worse yet, Max's demon.
As the guard approached Demon Max he simply stood there, deranged smile and all. The guard didn't know it, but he was dead the moment he stepped inside the cage with him. "What are you so afraid of? I'm a nine year old for goddesses sake! Kill me!" Demon Max taunted as the guard drew nearer. He could smell the fear that reeked off of the poor guy, and he loved every bit of it. His smile grew wider as he came into striking distance. The guards sword arm raised to strike but it would never fall. Just as it was over his head a massive spike burst from the young boy's chest and impaled the guard right through the sternum. Blood spurted from his back as the hulking spike protruded from it. The look of shock and fear on the man's face was all Demon Max needed to see. A demonic laugh bellowed from the small boy and the spike retracted. As the guard dropped to the ground Demon Max walked over to the edge of the cage and stared at Zast. He placed his hands on the the bars and began to pry them apart. From her perspective it must have been some spectacle. A nine year old boy prying iron bars away from each other. As he stepped through them he looked her right in the eyes with an evil grin. "You're next." He growled while stepping toward her.

Rii closed her eyes briefly as her hand ran back down his face, his neck, and then over to his shoulder where she began to lightly push in hopes of getting him to lay down again. "As glad as I am for your perseverance and stubbornness, you are aggravating my stitches," Rii calmly pointed out to him, eyes cracking open to glance at his wounds. The burns would scar and bleed and cause him excruciating pain if he stood, especially with all the movement in his back muscles. If he tried to move again she was already focusing on his pressure points. Skilled soldiers were above Rii's limited defensive training. Wounded skilled soldiers were not. At least, so far in her career they hadn't been.
"Right. So if I'm not getting a buddy-"
"Do not fetch Maximus. Avoid him entirely," Rii warned her, still staring at Argoth with narrowed eyes. She knew why Argoth was worried. She remembered Maximus wrapping his arms around her as they took off on Billiam. There was a demon lurking inside of him, and if he'd been captured and if Argoth's behavior was anything to go on, Rii didn't doubt the demon was about to make an appearance. She wasn't sure what to expect other than... horror, she was sure. Ozzy was about to leave when she saw Rii raise a human hand. "Hold on... I don't know what exactly to expect, Argoth, but I will go. Because if you go I can guarantee your back will never work the same, amongst other things I'm still working on how to fix." She eyed his wounds again. Rii would knock him out if he tried to go, because she could create a professional opinion in half a second that gave her more than enough reasons to keep him in that room.
The last guard was dead, though perhaps Zast had already known that when she sent him in. She had not known he would pry apart the bars. She'd hoped to not see anything like that. What had she been doing when she was his age?
"Demon," she murmured, snapping the wooden rod in her hands until it expanded into a long staff covered in runes. "Revel, something." Catching on to what she wanted, Revel shakily put his flute to his lips and began to play something low and steady as Zast twirled her staff. She needed the rhythm to strengthen her magic. "Gahure uhn," Small black daggers materialized and began to trail behind one end of her staff, and with several flicks she sent all six daggers at the small child.

Argoth could feel the tenseness in Rii's fingers as they rested on his shoulder. He knew exactly what she intended to do if he attempted to stand. It was in his best interest not to get up and see what had become of his apprentice, but it was in everyone else best interest for him to get up and do so. If indeed Max had succumbed to his demon then everyone in this amphitheater was in danger. The last thing he wanted was Rii to go get Max and Ozzy's uncle. Argoth knew all too well that the demon would recognize her and what she meant to the young assassin. There would be no hesitation in killing her after that, and Argoth would not let that happen. He rested a hand on Rii's wrist that was rested on his shoulder. Looking deep into her eyes with an expression of utter seriousness he warned, "Rii..you don't understand. If Max isn't in control his demon will recognize you. He shares all of Max's memories and all of his thoughts. Once he knows you mean something to the boy...he will kill you. Without a second of hesitation he will come after both of you. There will be no chance to rescue her uncle." Argoth took a moment to pause. He wanted the gravity of his words to sink in. After a few seconds passed he started up again. "Now we can't be certain that he has changed, but we can't be certain if he hasn't either. I don't know what they did with him but if it involved any amount of high stress or incapacitation there is a very real chance that he might have lost it. If that is indeed the case, then I need to get down there as soon as possible. Everyone here is in danger if we don't suppress him right now."
Demon Max grinned at Zast's foolish attempt to attack him. He morphed his right arm into a paddle and swatted the daggers away without a break in his stride. As he neared her he transformed his right arm from a paddle to a gargantuan blade, and with speed like that of light he split her staff in half. She began to step backward, trying to create more distance between her and the demon child. Demon Max could see the frustration on her face. Never before had she faced such power. "If you were smart you would stop playing that insipid flute, boy." Demon Max growled in anger. He didn't even look at him as he spoke, all focus on the sorceress. Now cornered, Zast gritted her teeth in desperation. What could she do? This demon was of nothing she had ever seen before.

Rii narrowed her eyes. It was true, she knew Maximus held a dark, uncontrollable demon within him, but it was also true that she didn't know what happened when Maximus could no longer keep the monster at bay. Argoth had a point, and if even a fraction of the destruction he spoke of were to occur, more people than just Argoth would be severely injured. Rii couldn't let that happen, but she couldn't let Argoth throw away his physical capability either. Thoughtfully biting her lip, Rii stood. Soreness stretched throughout her legs again at the unfamiliar feeling of warm skin against her muscles. Her insides twisted at being heated. It was strange. But at the moment, she simply couldn't let it occur to her. "Potions such as these do more harm than good in most cases. Magically healing any part of your body in such a manner repeatedly weakens your muscles and frays the nerves. But I can water it down and mix in my own herbs. Hopefully that will keep your back from being permanently damaged," Rii explained as she opened up a cabinet in the healing room and withdrew a red potion. The tales mentioned the great hero Link using such potions often to restore his health, but they didn't mention how poorly his muscles worked in the future when all was said and done. Hurriedly pouring a small amount into a basin and then mixing in her flask of water and a few leaves, Rii carefully shook the bowl to allow the ingredients to mix. "I prefer never to use these, so you owe me several days of bed rest when this is done. I assume we're clear." And then, just to prove a point, she went behind Argoth and tilted the bowl, allowing the faded red mixture to cascade down his back and into his burns. It would sting, so her message would sink in just as effectively as the potion did, but it would help decrease the severity of the burns and soothe his muscles so as not to aggravate the damaged skin further. Then, tossing the bowl - they were in a hurry, after all - Rii snatched a few more leaves off the table and offered them to Argoth. "It will prevent you from blacking out and dull the pain for an hour or so. Now, major things require our attention, yes?"
Ozzy, twirling her ring of keys before gripping them tightly, nodded and bolted for the steps leading down to the dungeon. "Let's go."
Zast had never learned teleportation spells. She'd never been able to grasp them. Perhaps she should have tried harder. Oh well. If she was going to leave this world, she would at least leave something for the bewitched child to ruefully remember her by. And so, after twirling it once, Zast threw the broken rod to the ground, watching as it burst into flames, unleashing embers every which way, scorching her own skin. Usually she could heal it, but she'd be dead in moments, she was sure.

The burning staff hurled chunks of flaming wood at Max as it exploded. Coals skid across his skin as he continued to walk toward her, still never breaking his stride. Burn marks now peppered his small body; across his right cheekbone there was a rather large burn that trailed back to his ear, several smaller pieces made contact with his chest, burning small holes in his shirt while also burning his torso. Even more scorch marks were on his legs, where most of the coals had struck from the explosion.
As Demon Max reached his prey a maniacal grin spread across his face. His right arm morphed into a massive stone hand, and with it he reached up and grabbed Zast by the throat. Bringing the poor woman to her knees Demon Max looked directly into her eyes before he truly began to choke her. He wanted her to see just how menacing he actually was, see the fear in her eyes before he stole the life from them. His grip tightened on her neck and all access to oxygen was cut off. The entire time his prey struggled for life Demon Max watched delightedly. When Zast finally stopped moving he tossed her across the room and into some crates, which broke upon impact of her lifeless body. After Demon Max was finished with poor Zast he turned his attention to the flute player.
Argoth took the leaves and chewed them while he made his first attempt to stand. Luckily it was his only attempt, but damn did it hurt. He wrapped an arm around Rii and said, "Hurry, we must follow her." And began to walk with Rii toward the dungeon.

Rii watched Argoth stand slowly before leaning on her for support. Several days of rest, she repeated in her head as she gingerly wrapped her arm around him and he did the same with his arm around her to keep him standing up. "Violinist, violinist," Rii shouted after Ozzy's vanishing figure. But it was too late, she'd taken a turn as Rii assisted Argoth towards the dungeon entrance. But Ozzy returned just as fast, keys still firm in her grip.
"Bodies. We have bodies, and the kid... I think... very bloody and burnt, I think. But otherwise he's fine... if you could say that," Ozzy observed as she ran a hand through her black hair and then down her braid. "If this is what you were talking about, then maybe you should be key master oh injured one." She raised the hand with the ring of keys to Argoth as an offering.

Argoth let out a sigh. What he had feared would happen was indeed happening. And now not only was Rii in danger but everyone in the amphitheater was as well. There was only one way to handle this and he knew that Rii wasn't going to like it one bit. "This is not good." Argoth murmured. He sucked in a deep breath and unwrapped his arm from Rii's shoulders, relinquishing her the trouble of having to support him any longer. Focusing intently on commanding his body to do exactly as he told it, Argoth began to walk toward the dungeon on his own. Pain flared from everywhere it possibly could but Argoth ignored it. His uncanny ability to resist pain and continue going when there really wasn't anything left for him to go on was something he had obtained from years of training with the assassins. Many times has he had to use it from various deadly assassinations. Argoth was accustomed to withstanding pain and continuing to function properly even though most of his extremities probably shouldn't be, but he feared that the more he pushed himself the less likely he was to ever function again. At least properly. But Max was in trouble. His apprentice needed him, so that is where he was going to be. After about a minute of Argoth collecting himself as he made his way to where Ozzy was standing, he began to carry on as if he had no injuries at all. He swiped the keys from Ozzy's grasp and headed for the dungeon, making sure he moved quickly enough to thwart any of Rii's protests. As he left though he called to Rii and Ozzy, "Stay behind me but don't get close."
The first thing Argoth saw when he entered the dungeon was carnage. Guards lay strewn about in the most gruesome fashion. The woman who had taken Rii was dead as well, laying in a heap in a broken mess of crates. When he saw Max for the first time he was in the middle of killing the last guard. The demon child was just finishing embedding the guard's flute into his esophagus. MAx must have heard him coming because after he was done he turned to face his master. "Ahhh," he started rather amused, "look who's back from the dead."

Rii hadn't given up. She wasn't going to stop Argoth. Not right now when Maximus needed him. But there would be fun encounters later. In a manner of speaking. If he found being confined to a bed for several days (weeks, in her hopeful head) to be fun. Instead, she followed behind, running through things she'd have to mix for him the moment she had her bag and his undivided attention.
And then she heard 'back from the dead'.
For whatever reason the phrase seemed vaguely familiar in relation to Argoth. But no one had ever mentioned it, and her voices had never told him he'd been dead at one point. Only that he had amnesia. It was nothing her voices hadn't done before, not informing her of certain things because it was unnecessary at the moment or because they were unsure if that was really case. Most likely it was a combination of both.
Still, despite the fact that the people in her head had had previous awareness of this incident, Rii was still surprised. Ozzy, having not been prepared at all, felt her jaw drop as she squinted at his back curiously and leaned over to Rii. The two had kept their distance, as requested. "Dead?"
"I know nothing of it," Rii remarked and Ozzy frowned. "It's not the concern at the moment, though I do wish my voices hadn't left. I could ask them about it."

Demon Max had a rather amused look on his face while looking over at Rii and Ozzy. "You mean he didn't tell you? Oh yes, Argoth was very dead at one point. Not that long ago in fact." An evil grin took over his face and his voice switched from amused to sinister. "I would know. I killed him."
Argoth said nothing. The only thing on his mind was to figure out how to get Max back in control. Risking a head on fight with the demon would be almost certainly suicidal. Especially in his current condition. Argoth had an idea however, only this time he was hoping he didn't die this time.

Rii cocked her head to one side. "Well why would that be? My young visitor of Maximus' body, did Argoth do something to offend you?" she asked as Ozzy stiffened beside her. Ozzy wasn't really sure talking to it was the best thing to be doing, but if she was going to talk to it she certainly would not be using the eerily polite word choices and mannerisms Rii was currently utilizing. A few curse words and rather rude insults would be in order if Ozzy was speaking, which she wasn't, because not only did she have no idea what was going on, but there was still no sign of her uncle.
