Shit. This changed too much at once, but it might still work in their favor. He wasn't interested in facing Syrus' newest behemoth on his own, certainly without knowing what it could do, and he needed to rejoin Rii if at all possible. Syrus had nothing left to threaten aside from Faro's own life, and he knew that was beneath Syrus' notice. "That's not how this is going to work." He said, leveling his gaze at the man. "Everyone you came here to threaten is gone. You're not getting anything for free." He challenged. "We exchange information, or you leave with nothing." A swift tendril pulled the knife from Syrus' hand. "First off, what have you to done him, and why?" He asked, gesturing toward Tarris. The tendril whipped the knife into the floorboards between the two, demanding that the man be called off. Faro was disturbed and concerned by the appearance of this new experiment. It was unlike Syrus to use adult subjects in his experiments, let alone grant them what could be elemental abilities. "Answer me, then ask your own question." Both of them had conducted their business in the dark, and an unspoken rule stated that the quality of Syrus' information would impact the quality of Faro's information.
Meanwhile, an abandoned shack in the middle of the deepest parts of the woods was where a woman in carapace of polished black armor found herself. She took out her loot and set the tiny cubes on the shelf, checking the food stash in the cabin, grumbling when she found it low. When was the last time anyone was in here? She was heading for the door when one of them started buzzing and shaking. "Oh hell." She said blankly, quickly grabbing the cube and tossing it out the door before it collapsed and spat one of the little brats back out. Sooner than expected, she would have to play this carefully.

Rii watched the woman curiously as she returned to build the fire. Each person was different of course, but it seemed her hunch of how to interact with her was correct. Despite her clear urge to kill Rii, she was being tolerated so far. It would remain to be seen in the days to come, but Rii would think of that later. She shuffled through her pack, fishing out an apple for Billiam and pouches of berries for herself and the woman. She popped a few into her mouth before cinching the pack and gently tossing it near the woman's feet. "There are some berries in there, if you'd like. I've taken a few for myself." Rii went about calmly removing Billiam's saddle and bridle so he could meander freely through the makeshift campsite and find water for himself before settling down to take stock of what she had grabbed before running from the shack.
There were many things to go over. For one, she'd left Faro behind. She had hoped he would get away, but then again, with Syrus there... It was too late. Rii started to remove vials and jars of various sizes, which brough her to the second thing as she noted with dismay that grabbing her pack must have been so easy because she had set out many of her supplies to heal Argoth. They still littered the floor of the shack. With a soft sigh she began to slide them back into place, reorganizing considering the amount of space she now had. So much inventory lost. She would need to gather again. But she doubted the woman would let her on this journey.
The woman. She was the third thing on Rii's mind. Rii felt an incessant twitching in her head for having to continuously think of her as that. "The woman". "What is your name?" she asked lightly as she wrapped up the last few glass vials.
Somewhere else, Naiya stared at Argoth with wide eyes, mouth popped open in surprise. "Fast!" she whispered loudly, amazed at how he instantly blacked out. Deciding he was out for good, Naiya crawled over to the water to stick her feet in again, making half-hearted attempts to keep her laughter down as she kicked tiny little ripples and waves through the pool.
It was several minutes before numerous footsteps echoed through the small corridor. The purple-robed woman had returned short of breath and looking rather indignant, followed by four frowning individuals wearing dark smocks and aprons cinched with red sashes.
Naiya spun around with a splash. "Are you the. Heawers?" she cried.
All eyes fell to her. The frowns dissipated.
"By the Three, Enye," a taller, dark-skinned man murmured. "I thought..."
"We all thought this was-" a short, bespectacled woman started, raising her hands only to let them fall again.
The woman in the purple robe, Enye it seemed, had the courage to hold her arms out in Naiya's direction where the others did not. "But now you believe me, don't you?" Naiya stood there for a moment, taking in the four newcomers as she got to her webbed feet.
A woman in the back - curled black hair held back by a white kerchief - opened her mouth, but no reply came out as they all continued to stare at Naiya. Naiya was getting bored of it. "Argod. Is. Hurt," she reminded them, toddling over to point to where he was sleeping.
They all started at her words, but Enye regained her composure first, crouching down with her hands on her knees to meet Naiya's gaze. "And that's why I brought my friends to help, Milady." Three of the healers went to work, unfurling a cloth and rod stretcher Naiya had not noticed and setting it beside Argoth.
The first man stayed still. "But how does she know this... Argod?" the man asked in a low voice, glaring at Enye.
Enye arched her eyebrows. "I couldn't tell you. Maybe you should ask the Lady Naiya, given that she is here." A sense of wonder slipped into her voice at the end.
The wonder did not carry over to the man, who turned stiffly to Naiya. "Lady Naiya, pardon my asking, but how do you know this man?"
Naiya blinked up at him, unsure what part of his words meant. But she knew the question. "Argod is. My fwiend."
"Your friend?" the man repeated, eying Argod's sleeping body as it was gingerly placed on the stretcher. Naiya nodded. "And how are you two... friends?"
That was a hard question. Naiya stared at the ceiling, eyes narrowed as she thought it over. "Mommy wikes him," she eventually decided upon.
That caught the man's attention, and he straightened. "Your mother?"
"Yes."
Eyes softening, the man nodded and sset to work, helping his fellow healers carry Argoth out of the small cavern. Naiya went to scamper after them, but a gentle hand stopped her. She glanced up at Enye. "We can go to the infirmary together, Milday. How does that sound?" Naiya gasped happily, grabbing Enye's offered hand so that they could walk after Argoth together.

Out of the cube popped little Maximus. He hit the ground without any grace as he burst from the cube, landing flat on his stomach with his face in the dirt. It took him several long moments to gather himself. Max looked around from where he lay and noticed he was no longer in the recesses of his mind, he had complete control of himself now.
And then the events of the last thing he remembered happening came flooding back to him. In a burst of motion Max launched back to his feet. "Mathayus," he breathed. Max had never been able to witness the end of the fight; Syrus had seen to that. Nor had he determined what became of the ninja's daughter. Desperation to know the truth gave birth to an anxious pit in his stomach. It then occurred to him that perhaps he should start by figuring out where he was and how he got there. He began inspecting his surroundings but nothing looked familiar. As he slowly turned, his attention came to the little shack along with the woman clad in stark black armor. The little assassin's eyebrows shot up. He'd never seen this woman before.
"Hi!" Max said with a sunbeam of a smile. "Could you tell me where I am and what it is I'm doing here? I need to get back to my friends."
Somewhere far away Elise glared at the bag of berries the witch had tossed her. At first, the very idea of supplementing herself with food from her sent a disgusted ripple up her spine. Then her stomach betrayed her with an audible grumble. Elise reached for the bag and hesitated just before picking it up. What if this witch were trying to poison her? Take her out before she reached Argoth? Would only make sense, she surmised. She snatched her hand away and withdrew back to the tree. Elise eyed Rii with a malicious gaze that could have curdled milk. "I will not be tricked so easily, witch." She spat. "I will feed myself come morning."
A few minutes later the thief asked her name. Elise thought about it for a long time. There wasn't any reason not to tell the witch her name, and when she thought about it Elise wanted the thief to know who she was before she killed her. "Elise," she replied bitterly.
Syrus grinned amusingly at Faro, holding his hands out and shrugging. He completely ignored Faro ripping the dagger from his hands. "You're right," he proclaimed. "No reason we can't be civilized then."
Faro laid out the rules and Syrus smiled again. It wrapped around his head as Faro asked the first question. "Tarris? Why I have done nothing to him," Syrus answered truthfully (probably for the first time in his entire life). "I simply found him the way he is. We just have similar goals, so he has decided to work with me." Again, the truth. "Every ability or power that Tarris possesses he has either acquired on his own or was born with. I have not tainted him." Syrus showed his teeth in a maniacal grin, "Scouts honor," he purred. Without a moments hesitation Syrus fired a question back at Faro, "Who has taken Max and Natsumi?"

"I have not met an Elise for quite a while," Rii offered gently. With a soft, low hum she reached for the bag once more. Staring at Elise and the way the flickering orange fingers of the fire cast dancing light upon her face, Rii pinched two more berries between her thumb, index, and middle finger and slipped them into her mouth again. Then she tossed the bag back as she chewed and swallowed. "Please keep yourself nourished, Elise."
Somewhere else, Argoth had been successfully moved to one of the handful of plain cots in the small infirmary, tucked against one wall while all the supplies packed rows upon rows of shelves and cabinets, clearly suffering from the size of the room. It had taken the healers an hour to even figure out what most of Argoth's injuries were once they got him there, and longer still to decide the best way to heal any of them. Naiya, for all that she tried to sit patiently and watch from the opposite end of the room - the healers kept fumbling with their things when she would appear at their elbows reaching for instruments and herbs alike, spluttering things like "the lady should not see this" and "the lady need not touch that" whenever they managed to work past their looks of startled shock - was eventually sent away with awkward, stiff words. Enye took her from there, watching her run down the halls. At one point Enye asked Naiya to hide in an alcove while she snuck into the kitchens and filched breads and jams and sticks of seasoned meats to take back to Naiya for their meal. It was only as night was beginning to fall that the black-haired healer woman appeared.
"The rest is up to time and rest. We will have to see how he fairs," she said. "Now, how did our Regent react?"
Enye paused, glancing down at Naiya. "I did not wish to take her to him when her friend could not go with her. She's young and I worry the Regent will frighten her."
The woman's eyes went narrow and dark, her expression turning sharp. "You didn't tell her?"
Enye shushed her, reaching a hand out to hold Naiya's. "Not so loud."
"What does it matter? She'll find out and have all our heads either way?"
"No she will not. Not if none of us tell. Lyra, say you won't tell."
"You just worked so hard to get here... I'd hate to see-"
"Naiya is here." Enya squeezed Naiya's hand and glanced down at her for emphasis. "Whatever the Regent thinks, I have an upper hand here."
Lyra sucked on her lower lip, but eventually sighed. "Alright. But don't ask me to run with you if it doesn't go well."
"I couldn't ask you to leave everything here. That's unfair. I know that," Enye assured her.
"No. Don't ask me because... never mind. Are you taking her to her chambers?"
Enye met Naiya's wide eyes. "Well? Would you like to see your bedroom? It is getting late."
"Argod!" Naiya insisted with a large pout.
Enye and Lyra both tensed with hurried fingers on their lips. In sync they glanced around. Then Enye knelt down besides Naiya and in a whisper said, "Alright. We will go see Argoth first. Now remember, we must be quiet. The castle doesn't like it when we are loud." Naiya nodded in understanding, and the three made their way back to the infirmary to where Argoth lay.

Argoth's eyes snapped open. His chest was heaving and there were droplets of sweat on his brow. Oh thank the goddesses...it was only a dream. Argoth closed his eyes again and began breathing deeply. Footsteps echoed through the hallway outside and he immediately recognized the smaller pair of feet as Naiya's. He cracked a small smile; anxiety slowly dissipating. The little one was coming to check up on him, and that made Argoth feel warm. Somewhere inside his mind an idea was blossoming; for the first time it may be possible for Argoth to have a family. Him, Rii, Max, and Naiya. The idea made him cheese, hard.
The stubborn assassin then began to assess himself. First by what he could feel, which he quickly realized that he wasn't save dull throbs and aches, then by his motor skills. Argoth slowly began to check his arms and legs to make sure they functioned without much pain, and when they responded well he attempted to sit. Even with the miracle of painkillers he could manage only to lift himself onto his elbows.
With a smile he faced the door and waited for little Naiya to enter. It was time to figure out where he was.
Somewhere else, Elise scoffed. She eyed the bag of berries, her rage flaring once more. If the witch was trying to embarrass her it was working, and Elise despised her for it. She almost lashed out at Rii, opening her stomach wide enough to watch her organs spill onto the ground, but with a few deep breaths she calmed. At least enough to stop her from killing the witch. Instead, she stood up, stomped a foot down onto the bag of fruit, twisted sharply, and kicked it back over to the thief.
"I said I'll feed myself come morning," she said. Elise took a step toward Rii and leaned in close to her face. In a low and venomous voice she continued. "I do not want to be your "friend," thief. So keep to yourself."
And then, as if a switch had been flipped inside of Elise, her hand shot out and latched onto Rii's throat. She drew the witch in so their noses were touching. "Anger me like that again, and perhaps I'll torture Argoth's whereabouts from you instead." Elise shoved Rii backward, letting go of her throat, and stalked back to the oak tree. Once again she sat at the base just a few feet from the fire. She eyed the witch for several seconds before returning them to the fire.

Rii stared after Elise, a weight settling in her stomach. Elise hadn't eaten since Rii had encountered her. It had been more than four hours. Elise's body would not be pleased with her, even if Elise was not pleased with Rii. Eventually she shrugged, picked up the small satchel from the ground, and tucked it back into her pack. Elise's threat echoed briefly in her head. It was a threat, there was no question, but Elise had no idea how little the threat would benefit her own aims. Not that Rii planned to benefit her anyway. At least not when it came to "reclaiming" Argoth. As if Argoth were an object. Rii had felt him bleed and breathe more than enough to know that wasn't true. And even if she tortured me, I could not help her. Locating a hatchery can't be explained with words. You can't give directions. You simply feel. Rii might've known how to get there without that were it now for how she found herself there, and how she left.
How she found herself there...
I'll find myself there again soon enough. Her insides twisted at the thought, drawn tight within her. Rii settled down in the grass and dirt, not bothering to cushion or cover herself with anything. She had yet to sleep in her human body before. It would be an interesting and welcome distraction. Despite the fire a shiver crawled through her. Rii hummed it away, rolling onto her side and feeling the blades of grass tickle her skin. A bug crawled over her bare toes, and she wiggled them with a small smile on her face as the bug thought better of its perch and skittered away. Tomorrow she would wake with the dawn to guide Elise further. Maybe during that time she could ponder over what it was that had crafted Elise the way she was.
Somewhere else, Naiya scampered into the infirmary. "Argod! Are. You. Better?" she exclaimed, toddling to his side and climbing up into what little space was left on the already rather cramped cot. Enye and Lyra followed her in, exchanging mildly amused looks and small smiles. "How you feel? Did you. Sweep? Did you. Have. Good dweams? Did you. Snore?" At this point there wasn't actually room for him to be answering any of her questions until Enye started laughing.
"Let your friend breathe, milady. Then maybe he can answer if he is up to it."

Argoth laughed, the sound brightening the room. The little zora-twili was winning his heart with each action and word.
"I am feeling much better, Naiya, thanks to your friends." Argoth shifted his attention to the adults in the room. "Thank you, for mending my injuries and allowing me to stay here. Now might be a good time to start answering questions. I'm sure you're both wondering who I am and how I know Naiya here." He paused for a moment, allowing some time for response. All he received were nods, which he took as a message to continue. "My name is Argoth, although by the small one I'm known as 'Argod.' He laughed again, looking back at little Naiya. "Her mother and I are...well..." His voice trailed off for several seconds. Argoth was about to say dating, but was that what they were doing? Since they decided to become involved the closest thing they had to a date was sleeping in the same bed together. And even then they both awoke to the kidnapping of young Maximus. Hardly a date in Argoth's eyes. Lovers came to mind next, but that seemed awkward to tell these two strangers. Seeing each other? Did that convey what they were properly?
Finally Argoth decided to say something; play it safe. "...In a relationship." Which wasn't by any means untrue. The two of them had decided to be together even if the current definition of their relationship wasn't explicitly defined. He could live with that though. In time they would get to be alone. Argoth was about to go on but by the look on the stranger's faces he decided to let them speak first.
Elise watched the witch as she laid down to sleep. Soon she would do the same, but not before ensuring that Rii was sleeping first. Elise had no intention of getting killed while she slept. Especially not when she was so close to Argoth. An hour or more passed (she couldn't tell) before she leaned back against the old oak tree and began to doze; her eyes never left the thief as they closed.

Rii woke with the sun, rising slowly to pale rays of yellow and pink that dappled her through the trees. Her human body felt stiff and bent in unwanted places. With a frown she twisted her torso this way and that, stretching her arms to the fullest and extending her feet out in front of her to feel the stretch of muscle and skin. Soft red imprints from where her arms had settled over flattened grass were scattered over her skin. She watched with a steady gaze as they slowly faded from sight. Human bodies were so much more impressionable it seemed, needing their surroundings to give a little to them for there to be any comfort. Rii traced a fading mark with her finger tips before slipping the berries from her pack again. Billiam approached from behind, mouthing at her golden locks. With a small smile Rii leaned away so she could look at him, reaching up with a hand to pet the short fur along the length of his muzzle. "We have more running ahead of us today, Sir Billiam," she murmured. He made no response to show he understood, and she showed no disappointment in that. Ah, but they were not running alone to find her child and Argoth. Rii glanced over to find Elise.
Somewhere else, the small Twili-Zora kicked her feet over the edge of the bed, bouncing it lightly as her head swayed from Argoth to Enye and back again. Enye, however, kept her dark eyes trained on Argoth. "Are?" she repeated.
"That's not possible," Lyra added, voice flat and low as she stared him down.

Elise had woken early that morning. True to her promise that she would feed herself. She made her way out into the woods nearby and gathered her own berries with additions of nuts and some wild edible plants. She did not have the time to kill and clean an animal, her and the witch would be off soon. By the time the thief woke she was already almost done with her breakfast, sitting in the exact same spot she had been in.
Argoth cocked a confused eyebrow. How was that not possible? These people seemed to know (or at least thought they knew) things that Argoth was not privy to. "Uh," he stammered, "What do you mean?"

Rii found Elise where she had been before, though she looked awake and alert. She must have been up already. Rii turned back to Billiam, saddling him with steady hands. She only spoke when she finished. "If you have eaten, Elise, we can be off."
Somewhere else, Enye and Lyra both sent uneasy glances at Naiya. Enye chewed her lip as she felt Lyra's gaze slide back to her, just as stony as the deep gray color of her eyes. "Naiya," Enye started suddenly, voice bright and sounding far too loud in the tiny space. Naiya's bright red eyes whipped to her and stayed there, both excited to hear her new name being used and to have Enye talking to her again. "Argoth might need some spare blankets. How about you go over to the cubby there and pick out a few for him. And some for you, too. It's almost bed time." Naiya pursed her lips, thinking for a moment, before nodding.
"Okay!" She hopped back off the bed. "I be right back," she informed Argoth rather firmly, nodding again as if to confirm his understanding before she went to the corner of the room to yank open the cabinet.
"Naiya's mother is dead," Enye whispered, eyes on her hands as they rubbed slowly together in front of her. "Perhaps you did not know."
"And even if she weren't," Lyra snapped, her voice not quite as low but far more firm, "how dare you insinuate she was ever unfaithful to the Lord of this castle. How dare."

Faro's brow tensed as he claimed honor in his assertions. Still, he had to give the man credit. Faro sensed nothing of the demons that Syrus usually implanted into his victims in this man. Either that, or he had somehow given his creations a new scent that Faro was unfamiliar with. As his gaze trailed back to Syrus' companion, however, Faro could not shake the fact that something had been done to him. He did not seem to possess the mental capacity for "goals" as Syrus had put it. Regardless, he had answered, and it was now Faro's turn to respond. "Chandrea." He told him. Her name was largely meaningless in light of what she could do. "You just missed her, but don't bother searching the town. She's long gone." He added. "Her speed puts horses to shame, and in all the time we've wasted, she could have gotten just about anywhere." He answered, hoping to throw Syrus on a wild goose chase so he could make his way to Chandrea uninteruppted. Now it was his turn, and he only hoped Syrus was satisfied with his information. "This new, partner of yours." He said, nodding to Tarris. "What can he do?" He'd ask, turning his gaze back to the man.
Chandrea smiled at the young assassin. It was hard not to, considering his outlook. "Hello there, little, um." Shit. She couldn't remember the kid's name, or the other kid's name either. "Well, anyway, I'm one of Faro's friends, and he told me to take you to this safehouse so you and your little friend could relax." She said, lying through her toothy grin. Her stomach growled beneath her black plate armor before the silence grew too long and gave the boy time to ask more questions. "Aww, I'm hungry. I bet you're hungry too after being stuck in that cube. How about we go grab some food?" She would ask, moving her hands to her hips and watching the young assassin.

Elise finished the rest of her breakfast in one mouthful and stood up. She glared at Rii for a moment before responding, "Let's go." She stalked over to the horse and waited for Rii to mount.
Max beamed up at the woman in black. He giggled a little as she tried and failed to place a name on him. "Max," he said, "Nice to meet you." When the lady mentioned food Max's stomach almost chimed in to agree, but he pushed it down. He was hungry no doubt, ravenous even, but it was imperative that he find his friends. "Uhm, well I really should be going. One of my friends was hurt and the other..." Max trailed off, his eyes drifting to the floor. Memories of Mathayus rushed back to him and his heart sank. He's okay, they're all okay...I hope
Max pushed the thoughts from his mind and looked back up at the stranger. "If you could just point me in the right direction, I'd be grateful. I can make my way out on my own."
Argoth cocked his head to the side and frowned. Dead? They surely must be mistaken. Not twelve hours ago he was with her, lying on the floor of that shack in Kakariko village. "You are talking about Rii, right? Rinarii? The zora? Well, not so much anymore but...what makes you think she's dead? I was with her just before Naiya brought her here."
Then he registered the words of the second woman. His entire body stiffened. "Lord of this castle..? The look on his face was unmistakable; confusion and fear.
"Where am I? And who is the lord of this castle?" He asked the question almost timidly, not sure if he really wanted to know the answer.

Rii nodded, mounting with ease and waiting patiently for Elise to do the same before they took off once more. They had at least a few days ahead of them. With her gaze raking the glimpses of the blue sky through the trees, Rii wondered what Elise would be like for them.
She tried not to think of where her daughter and Argoth were, but not hard enough. She was not one to keep herself from her own thoughts.
Somewhere else, the room was cold. "His mind is muddied from the drugs," Enye whispered, a hopeless attempt to sooth someone - anyone, her gaze wavering on Argoth. She didn't want to look at him. Because even with the drugs... Even with the drugs... But she couldn't look at Lyra. For she knew the fury that would have burst in Lyra's dark gaze.
"You were with the scut." The accusation was sharp and low and came from the back of her throat, a wet, roughened hiss on the word.
Enye's eyes flickered to Naiya, ambling along as she made her misshapen pile of blankets. She wet her lips and started again, her voice somehow softer. "He doesn't know-"
"He knows enough. He knows that water hag's name, is that not enough for you?" Lyra spat, stalking towards the bed.
Enye's arm snapped out to catch her with a hand. "She had Lady Naiya with her, Lyra."
"Which makes its offense all the worse. It robbed our Lady's womb as she bled out and stole Naiya from us all! So Naiya is not dead, but she acquaints herself with her mother's murderer and its fellow filth. How many lies has she been raised in?"
"Lyra. You forget your voice!" Enye frantically whispered, Naiya's curious glances over her small shoulder not escaping the woman. Lyra needed to watch her volume. "If he knew she was such a... person-" Enye grimaced at the word, a bitter taste in her mouth "then is it not possible she hasn't told him? Why would she? We cannot so quickly place blame on Argoth. It is because of him that Naiya stays with us still."
Lyra's whole body was taught, tendons popping her wrists as her hands clenched into fists. Air rushed in and out of her nose, quick and unsteady. "That scut," she started with forced evenness, "is no more Naiya's mother than I am. Or were you so out of it in that chamber that you failed to see her true mother's blood spilled over the stone? It has not washed away. And for that trout's treachery, it may never." Lyra whirled, the fabric of her robes snapping with how quickly she whipped around to leave.
"Lyra-"
"Set him straight, Enye." And then Lyra was gone.
Enye's face melted into a frown, her teeth worrying her lower lip. Slowly her gaze slid to Argoth, and she gave a trembling sigh. "Tell me you didn't know," she begged softly.

Even with the drugs Argoth's emotional response was powerful. Scut? Water hag? Rage mounted with every word they spoke. Lyra especially. If little Naiya wasn't in the room the two of them would be having words. Angry, violent words. As the two of them continued Argoth shot up from his cot to sit upright. It hurt like hell even with the painkillers but rage was in the cockpit with him now. The look on his face was cold and twisted with anger. Argoth was about to shout something at them when he suddenly recognized where he was, and the fury on his face died away. So these are the people Rii talked about. The ones with the twisted story. I'm in the kingdom she was trapped in.
After Lyra left the room Enye looked at him solemnly and almost pleaded that he just didn't know. This was Argoth's chance to set them right, get their stories straight. He may even have the chance to convince Enye of the truth. Although, Karis's deceit runs deep within this place, and he was doubtful he'd gain full support from anyone. He'd have to try though, for Rii. There was a voice, a tiny, tiny voice, that attempted to shout from way back in Argoth's brain. Maybe, just maybe it said, Rii hadn't told him everything, but Argoth was much too smitten and the voice died before it could plant any seeds of doubt into his mind."Tell me what it is you think happened. I think there's is a possibility you've been deceived."
Elise mounted behind Rii, nudging her with more force than needed to. "Go." she said. Thoughts of Argoth flooded her mind and tears threatened her vision. How she longed for him. It had been years since she had even heard news of him, and now she was on the very cusp of being in his arms again. All she had to do was deal with the witch. Seething anger rose up in her at that. She had stolen him. And Elise would be damned if the bitch wasn't going to pay for it. She took a few deep breaths as they rode, trying to calm the storm in her.
Syrus grinned at Faro's question. "Why don't you demonstrate for him Tarris," he said.

Rii hummed her assent to Elise, gently digging her heels into Billiam's flanks over and over. He eased from walk to a canter with ease. It would be another long day, so she held him back from tearing over the earth like the flash of lightning that he was. He snorted on occasion, not pleased with how she always sensed when he was about to have a burst of speed and managed to tug his reins every time. She, however, was content. Or, mostly content. The longer she rode with Elise, the more she felt a subtle boil deep in her stomach. It felt vaguely familiar, and yet not enough for her to know at all what it meant. Rii rode on, continuing to comment on the things she saw. It helped to fill the foreign silence.
Somewhere else, Enye's bottom lip trembled at Argoth's words. "We all were," she murmured. Then she jerked her head back and forth, clearing her head as she stood. "Your mind is muddled. You should be sleeping, not talking... and you must not mention that... the Zora's name again. It will not go well for you here. Whatever your connection to her, Naiya adores you more than us. So long as that stays true and you stay silent, I can protect you. Now..." She turned to where Naiya had created a mound of blankets nearly as tall as her small, pudgy body. "Lady Naiya, have you picked out some blankets for Argoth?"
"All. Of dem!" Naiya rejoiced, picking up as much as she could with her little hands (roughly two blankets), and toddling over.
Enye laughed, the sound caught somewhere between her throat and lips. "How about just two? And then you can have two as well."
Naiya considered this with a deep pout. "O-kay," she eventually agreed. Arms full, she continued to hobble over to Argoth and dump her find on top of him. "Here. Argod. Now you. Can be. Waaaarm!"
"Would you like me to take you to your room, Milady?"
Naiya's head whipped towards Enye, her little brow furrowed. "I wanna. Sweep here. Wid Argod!" she insisted, voice bordering on a shout, possessively wrapping a hand in the blankets she had just placed around him.
Enye's eyes widened and she pressed a finger to her lips with a soft shushing sound. "Alright, alright, Milady," she hurriedly reassured the toddler. "Of course. Of course you may sleep here. I'm sorry, I just thought you would want a different bed. But yes, you... you may stay here. Just remember we have to keep our voices down okay"
Naiya nodded, her own red and yellow eyes going wide. "O-kay," she loudly whispered back.
"Now I must go. Good night, Lady Naiya."
Naiya's face split into a smile. "Night night!"
Enye cast a glance Argoth's way, and then she swept out of the room, a whisper in the night as the door slipped shut behind her.
Naiya gasped, looking at Argoth with eyes that spoke of a deep offense. "She didun. Say. Night to you," she exclaimed in her best attempt at a whisper.
