Azrael stood next to Eldrin as he watched Jalex prepare for the ritual.

"May Din bless me and purge me of my sins. Past, present, future; these sins be annulled through my faith, and through my sacrifice." The monk spoke as he removed his ear rings and began to unbandage his left arm. The skin that had been severely burned only a day before was now pale white flesh. "May my flesh be burned and my soul purged of the vile deeds committed and yet to be." Jalex said as he moved off the bridge and across the platform toward it's edge. The monk stared down at lava before him, flexing his hand a bit.

As Eldrin watched he contemplated what vile deeds the monk had committed. Jalex seemed like a nice guy... But what had he done? Of course for some religious people, eating the wrong thing was a sin. Eldrin couldn't understand this, as he ate just about everything. Of course he didn't understand the point of voluntarily hurting one's self over an invisible lady in the sky. But he didn't judge Jalex, he hadn't lived the monk's life. So he didn't know what he had been through, or how he came to worship Din so fervently.

"I give my arm in the sake of clearing my name for all time, my sins forgiven until death." The monk said as he now kneeled down, inches from the molten rock, he slowly lowered the bandage down and watched it turn to ash. Jalex took a breath and slowly breathed out, and then in a quick motion threw forth his left arm. The thick liquid rock barely moved, some small bits being thrown up into the air. The man did not scream as he held his arm there, his face reddening to match his hair. After a few moments he pulled back, his arm now gone up to his shoulder. "Din bless me with forgiveness." He muttered as his skin began to shift quickly to cover the burned stump and replace the damaged area. The monk stood and slowly moved back to the center of the platform stumbling slightly, and falling once he reached the center. "I'm getting to told for this." He said laughing, though in his mind he smiled he had retrieved what he wish. His ear ring lay near the platform's edge, reflecting the lava's glow and shining brilliantly in it's light.

Eldrin watched in shock as Jalex burned his own arm off. He rushed to the monk's side and helped him to his feet. "Too old for this?! I'm pretty sure you're never young enough too sacrifice an arm to a goddess!" He said, a bit angry. Not at Jalex himself, but at his actions. How could he just give up an arm for piety? He only had two after all... He silently cursed Din for being so demanding. The thief couldn't even understand giving a rupee to the temples for charity. But a body part! And to a pool of lava at that! "Seriously, and they call me crazy!" Eldrin snarled, dragging Jalex away from the lava, slightly afraid that he might jump in.

"Kid, you'd want...." Jalex coughed a bit and wheezed as he went to grab at his former arm, "to throw me in, for what I had done before." The monk took a deep breath as his skin continued to move around the stump, he deserved this for his sins, it was not required but it eased his pain of guilt. "This was not a normal ritual, this was for....those that died. Heh, I probably knocked my ear ring in, lot of good that did, one out of three." Jalex chuckled as he steadied himself, his vision blurred severely. He felt light headed as well, and his skin moving didn't help.

Lien, standing on one of the pinnicles of the stalagmites in Vlolvagia's room. Silently he had been watching Jalex offer such a ridiculous sacrifice in the 'name of Din'. Picking his path carefully, he jumped down the makeshift steps of the surronding Stalagmites until he finally reached where Eldirn was dragging the mad monk to, the heat seemingly unfazing Lien despite the thick leather tunic he was wearing. "Jalex. . . what on earth are you doing?"

Jalex looked at the dragon prince, and shook his head, his red mane of hair shrouding his face. "I'm finally paying for those I wronged, I'll give more and take more when the time comes. Until then, I'll work for what I need. Do either of you see my ear ring, my sight is not the best at the moment." The monk was troubled, but his conscious had been eased slightly, hopefully his apprentice would not pay for his master's troubles. His skin finally ceased it's constant movement and settled, black flakes falling from newly formed skin, now thin and weak.

Lien gently forced the monk to sit on a stone jutting out of the platform, holding him there. "Now now, you need to rest before you can move from that injury. Eldrin, find his earring, I'll hold him right here." Lien murmured, turning to his stump. Feeling the faintest trace of Volvagia's curse in the room, Lien summoned what little dragon magic he could and focused it on his injured arm. Slightly Jalex's arm begun to heal and recover his injury.

"You really think I can get up right now?" The monk asked the younger man, the dragon prince did have quiet a grip though. "I deserved that, I'd rather lose and arm and repent than spend years and years slowly trying to correct what I did, those things can't be undone." He felt light headed and would probably start rambling soon or pass out, either worked at the moment really. Wait, they were still in a volcano, bad idea on many levels.

"You shouldn't stand at all, but because you're not me, you need to get outside for fresh air, your body won't heal properly unless you are in a comfortable enviroment. . ." Lien replied, finished fixing his arm a bit more before continuing, still keeping a firm grip on him "And whatever troubles have plauged you from the past. . . I don't think the Goddesses are that brutal to demand something like that from you for your sins. . . Then I would have to give my life up if that were the case."

"Din wished for nothing but a simply burning ritual, and a final brand place upon my breast. I however wish for penance, my own need drove me to this." Jalex stated as he sat there, he felt his skin smooth out slowly, wrinkles not in sight nor any proof he had another arm to begin with. "I guess it depends on the person, I still don't think my arm was enough, but perhaps.......perhaps I'm seeking too much from myself."

"I suppose, but still. . . how is the pain? A little bit better now at least?" Lien asked, inspecting his stump to make sure he wasn't missing anything before letting go of the dragon magic back into the volcanic air from his mind. "It seems that a part of his magic still lingers here in this temple I suppose.

"What doesn't kill, makes us stronger." The monk said chuckling before groaning, maybe he lost a lil too much blood during that moment he burned his arm off. "I'm never doing something that crazy again." He moaned tiredly as he looked up towards the ceiling.

Lien frowned. "I would hope that you would never do something this foolish indeed. . . look at you, you're mess from burning your arm to nothing!" The dragon prince sighed and ruffled his own bangs, glancing down to the side, unsure really what to say. . . as well as making sure there was no one else from the Din Temple seeing him but what would they do to Lien anyways he wondered.
