Artie had taken up to looking at the new room they were in and slightly listened to Faro and the Bookkeeper. A thought slipped into his head...why was Faro so interested in Artie's ability to transform. He would admit that it wasn't exactly a common talent to be able to take the form of an animal and still retain your mind. Yet, Faro seemed to shake right out of his boots when he heard of Artie's talent.
The Bookkeeper's question roused Artie from his trance and he shook his head once before fully turning around to face the Bookkeeper.
"I come searching for a mask that is said to be here...the name of it is the Darknjan Mask...do you know anything about this mask?" Artie asked the lich.
(Darknjan is West Germanic for 'Dark')

"I do not. I was trusted with books, nothing more." The Bookkeeper stated. "Any book pertaining to the artifact would be too full of lies and superstition to provide you aid. All I can do is wish you luck." The Bookkeeper floated away and placed The Black Quake back on its shelf, moving his hand over the other books, making sure they were in their proper spots. "Do you require anything else?" The Bookkeeper asked, floating back to them.

Artie cursed under his breath. He assumed the Bookkeeper knew nothing...but it wouldn't hurt to make sure. "I do not require anything else, Bookkeeper. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us." Artie replied, bowing his head slightly in respect.

"Let's go, we'll never find your mask here." Faro said, turning to leave. As they left, the door sealed shut behind them, and the Bookkeeper fell back into his eternal rest, waiting for the next knowledge-seeking mortal to rouse him from his slumber.

Artie pulled out the map once more and let the light from Sky illuminate over it and he looked it over for a few minutes.
"Maybe..." he said to himself and rolled the map back up and stuck it in his belt. He looked over at the throne and ran towards it, he looked at the skeleton of the king still sleeping upon it and studied it.
Azrael had moved farther back into the shadows and watched the young hero with interest.

"What is it?" Faro asked as Artie ran toward the throne. He hoped he wouldn't do anything that might upset the king's spirit. They had already met one tough lich.

"If what I'm thinking is right...than there should be a switch here that will open a secret passage...most throne rooms had one for when the castle was under siege and the king would either escape or have his family escape while he took his last stand..." Artie explained, looking over the skeleton.
He spent another good minute searching and he moved around to the back of the throne and within a few seconds let out a "AH ha! I knew it!" and the sound of a button being pressed and ancient gears working as a section of the wall behind him removed itself in the same manner as the entrance to the library.

"The Ikana king had quite the throne, it seems." Faro remarked, walking up to the new doorway. "After you."

Artie nodded and stepped into the new hallway, it was pitch dark save for Sky's light.
"We might need torches..."Artie muttered, using Sky's light to find a couple of discarded torches on the floor and picked them up.
He reached into a pouch on his belt and pulled out a jar of blue fire, he opened the top and poured it over the torches and they lit up the hallway with a blue glow.
Artie handed a torch to Faro and they continued down the hallway. The blue light danced on the walls, showing strange symbols that seemed to out date anything Artie had seen before. He ignored these and continued to walk down the hall.
It seemed to take them hours to walk down the path, in reality it was only about a 15 minute walk...but the darkness played a trick on them.
"Look! I can see light!!" Sky said, flying a bit ahead of them. Artie nodded and chased after her.
Artie stopped at the door way and looked around, the room was rather small with a few rotting barrels and a skeleton sitting in the corner and right in front of them was a ladder.
Artie put the blue flame back in his bottle and started to climb the ladder, the old wood groaned and threatened to give way as he climbed. He eventually reached the trapdoor above and pushed it open.
Light shot into his eyes and Artie raised an arm to block the light until his eyes adjusted and when they did, he let out a gasp.
Sun streamed in through a broken window, but in front of him laid thousands of coffins. All lined up into a row on opposite ends of the room with a narrow path cutting through them for one to walk.
"Look!" Sky said, flying across the room to a chest. "Maybe the mask is in here...?" she suggested.
"Perhaps it is..."Artie agreed and pulled himself up and out of the hole. He took a second before he started to walk through the narrow path, if one of the beings sleeping in the coffins decided to wake up...Artie would have little room to fight...
He managed to make it through the path without alerting any liches or traps. He looked over the box and the area around it to make sure nothing would be triggered, he let out a sigh of relief as he saw none.
With hesitation, he opened the lid of the box and stared inside and pulled out the contents. "50 rupees?" he muttered, holding the purple gem.
Without warning, the whole room started to shake, as if an earthquake started. Artie managed to hold onto the chest for support and he looked back and saw the lids of the coffins moving and the corpses of long dead beings rise out from them, moaning as they gripped their weapons.
"Thousands of angry undead...what could make this even worse..."Artie muttered as the floor exploded and a large fat lich bursted forth from it.
It's gray skin stunk of death, it wore no shirt and the only items it wore were a pair of black blood-stained pants and a black mask with horns on it's face. It wielded a large battle axe.
"I just had to say that..." he whispered to himself and he pulled out his own weapons.
And then...in a long since forgotten language, the large lich yelled and pointed at Artie.

Faro took the torch without mentioning his flame abilities. He followed Artie down the hall, but wasn't willing to stress the ladder any further. Instead, he let Malevolence creep out of him, and raise him up through the trapdoor. As he came into the crypt, suspended on nay but a thin shadow, he stepped into the room proper, and the demon drew itself back into his body. He looked around while Sky flew over to the chest, and Artie navigated the room.
When the crypt started to shake, he whirled around and armed himself with fireballs, staring down the lich and his army. After meeting the Bookkeeper, he was unsure how this lich would react. He was equally ready to fight or stand down.

The larger lich let out a war cry and charged at Artie, it's minions doing the same.
"It seems not all of the liches in this place are friendly.."Artie said, blocking an attack with his shield and striking down a few of them with his blade.
Azrael could hear the fighting from half way down the tunnel, he broke out into a run and was at the bottom of the ladder. He looked at it with uncertainty and leapt up into the trapdoor, Desert Ghost slid out of it's scabbard silently and the shiekah-hylian hybrid swiftly decapitated a few liches and sent a kunai bomb into another few, sending them to their doom.

"Oi, this guy."[/b] Malevolence remarked with disdain when Azrael burst into the room. Though Faro couldn't hear his comment over the explosions, he felt much the same way. Had Azrael been following them the whole time? A group of undead wielding swords and axes put his thoughts to rest as they closed around him. Faro loosed a quick fireball directly to his left, and leaped to his right, delivering a powerful elbow to the stomach area of one of the soldiers. Another undead tried to slash at him, but Faro moved to the right, and disarmed the creature, running it through with it's own blade. He charged a fireball in his left hand as the undead bared down on him.

Artie hadn't noticed Azrael bursting out to help as he was far too busy trying to keep himself alive as he managed to take care of the large lich's minions.
"Just you and me now, ya ugly bastard." Artie muttered and rolled out of the way as the lich sent his war axe straight down at him and got it stuck in the ground. As he was trying to pull it out, Artie took this time and struck it across the gut, leaving a nice wound.
The lich stupidly looked at it and then looked at Artie and let out an unearthly howl as it found the strength to pull it's war axe out and charged at Artie.
Azrael decapitated another couple of liches and leapt over another two, delivering kicks and knocking their heads clean off.

Faro stabbed to the right, leaving the blade embedded in its target as he loosed another fireball. The thrall fell, charred nearly beyond recognition. However, Faro had realized he didn't have the time for such a tactic anymore. He let Malevolence creep into the open. Not enough to break the first seal, but enough to give him heightened senses. He would need to know when every attack was coming. He held his half-open hands close in front of him, crouched down slightly, bending his knees in a wide footing. The air shimmered around his hands as though they were slabs of stone on a hot day.
A thrall slightly to Faro's left made the first attack. It stabbed at Faro, who moved to the side, and slammed his palm into the lich's face, blasting it with a gout of fire. He twisted his body at struck at another lich with his other hand, letting loose with another burst of fire. He grabbed the lich and flung it into his comrades, knocking them over. He turned to deliver a series of strikes to lich to his right, each one lashing out with a tongue of flame. As it fell, two more attacked him with horizontal swipes. He lifted himself up by placing a hand on each of their helms. He took the opportunity to kick another lich away, and finished off his two supports with a jet flame to each head. As he landed, he caught the arm of another lich who attacked from behind. Not even a living man would have had time to feel surprise before being struck down by the fiery backhand that followed. Faro lunged forward to kick a lich who had been standing just behind the previous one. The force of the blast sent it crashing through some of its brethren, who Faro quickly ended before they could react.
Only five remained now. Faro backpedaled, flame gathering in his hands. He almost unleashed a massive gout of fire, but didn't want to burn out the air in the room. Instead he picked up another sword, and ran one of them through. He turned and decapitated the second. He turned and did a small hop, providing him enough momentum the stab the third lich in the eye. He turned and slashed the fouth lich across the chest before stabbing it in the gut. He moved to the final lich, spinning it around and impaling it through the back. Faro dropped the sword and charged toward Azrael's group.

Azrael took notice of Faro finishing off his bunch and coming over towards him. The Desert Monk nodded to Faro before leaping to another side of the horde, with a yell he stabbed another in the chest and sent a couple of exploding kunai into the hearts of several others. The liches looked dumbly at them before the tags set off, engulfing the undead in flames.
Artie back flipped another swing from the lich. It let out a frustrated growl and tried to ram into him, meeting with a stab from his sword.
"I've gotta end this soon..." he muttered, his shield arm was bruised and weary from the strength of the blows from the lich. Only the adrenaline pumping through his veins managed to keep him moving swiftly.
