The sun was setting, giving off a beautiful mixture of red and blue in the sky as it hid behind the mountain tops. The birds would've been chirping... but they weren't...
Something was in the mountains... something that radiated death.
An armored knight stood at the peak of the mountain, where he stood the ground died and left a spot of grey where his feet were. His horse whinnied as it's ice blue eyes gazed over it's master and then back down the mountain path.
The knight let out a breath of air... despite the mountain's warm climate... his breath was visible.

He raised a hand to his eyes, shielding them from the bright red sunlight. The light was going fast, but he was comfortable in the dark; he knew his way like the back of his hand. The mighty figure at the top of the mountain seemed to scan over the world, to think of his name over the land. "Found you," he muttered, saying the words softly in a strange, foreign accent. His sharp black eyes studied the man a bit longer, then just as the last shred of crimson light disappeared over the mountain tops, he turned on his heel and left.
He quickly walked down the path, knowing he was completely hidden from view, but in a hurry none the less. His simple clothes, a dark brown shirt, beige pants, brown boots, blended in with the surroundings perfectly. Down at the base of the small trail was the large pathway that led to the top of the mountain. Leaning against a large fallen rock was a blond haired youth, his bright eyes taking in the older man carefully. They silently continued their way down the path, back to the base of the mountain.
"He's up there. He's here," the older man said, tying his sloppyily cut hair at the base of neck without thought. Darkness already shrouded the base but the two made excellent time away from the mountain. "Does he know we're here?" the youth asked, putting away his longbow and stepping over a large rock. The other man looked over his shoulder as he started off into a jog, then a smooth, pace-keeping run. Surprised, the younger man broke into a ran to keep pace.
"Just follow my lead. I'm not sure. We can't be too safe with this one he's..." the man trailed off as he jumped over knee-tall rock. "Not normal. You're new here, there's much you need to learn about this place. It's different here, boy." They slowed down as they approached the far most point from the peak. The older man looked up at the peak, the man and horse at the top like ants. "Remember, boy, I'm Corsair. You're Attikus. Nothing can be said about the past until we are alone." He slapped the youth's back. "Come. We must make the village before much later."
Corsair turned continued left Attikus standing there. He turned around and gazed at the mountain, then broke out into a sprint to catch up to the older man.

It's beady eyes popped out of its sockets as it's slightly charred body finally stopped spasming. A warm, cooked smell emitted from it. "Mmm...ra!" The head disappeared with a sickening crunch. All around the small cave, crunching sounds was heard as the Gerudo chewed over her prize in relish. Iona giggled as she stared back at the headless cooked scorpion, some gut juice spilling down her hand as a small fire cackled nearby. "Nope! Needs more time!" she cried and the dead scorpion's body thrashed about in her hand as blue electricity coursed through it. Her amber eyes scanned the cave ground for more possible snacks like this one.
Death Mountain was perfect for delicious, life threatening snacks...and Hyrule's most brilliant rubies and garnets. Diamond was shallow in the rock here, but she wanted the perfect ruby. Just as her snack began to smell burnt, she stopped and took another cracking bite into the creature. "Crunchy!" A leg dangled from her mouth as she quickly devoured the rest of the scorpion. A large tarrantula crept by her and she snatched it up, its legs squirming about in her hand as electrity fried Iona's next snack. Outside, the night got cooler as time passed and several more creatures were consumed.

The Death Knight narrowed his vision as he gazed down at the land below. He swore that he saw two humanoids moving about... but dismissed it as he did not see them again.
Night time had come quickly... like an assassin in the night. He rode upon his horse as they patrolled the mountain.
"Nope! Needs more time!!" He looked up, his hand reached for the large two handed runeblade that sat upon his back. He led his mount towards a cave with a glow that illuminated it.
He stopped his horse in front of it and peered in. A girl sat in front of a fire with the smell of cooking meat that wafted and entered his nostrils. A Gerudo. His grip tightened on the handle of his weapon. He held a hatred for the race after the King of Evil had tried to enslave him.
"Speak your name."he said in a cold tone.

She looked up, startled, her brown eyes wide with surprise. How did he sneak up on her? Iona held up a small, charred snake. "Want some?" she asked the man innocently. She threw the cooked creature at his face and threw a bolt of electricity at him, a rather weak one because she was so startled by his appearance and ran and slipped away from the cave in the space between him and the wall. She ran down the pathway as fast as she could, but the gravel didn't support her footing. Skidding, the black haired Gerudo slipped, but a step away from the cave and the man, but fell off the narrow path and down the side of the mountain.

The snake was frozen mid-air by the man, but he was unprepared for the lightning as it knocked him off of his steed. He seemed only slightly annoyed by this... he walked after her, runeblade in one hand and he grabbed her by the arm as she started to tumble down the mountainside with the free one and he pulled her back up.
"Who are you?"

Desperately, she clawed at his arm, knowing she'd survive the fall and finding falling down the mountain more bearable than being with this man. Iona struggled to get away, his powerful, icy grip making her skin crawl. She allowed electricity to flow around her to discourage him to keep holding on to her. "I...I'm... Iona Solas. Let me go!"[\color] she cried, blood sliding down her face where her head had met the rock on her short lived tumble down. She writhed and struck him again with another bolt of lightning, but was disappointed to find her fear for this strange, dark man was hindering her abilities.

The man's facial features did not change at all at her attempts to escape him. He simply threw her back down onto the mountain path and turned to face her.
"I thought you were more powerful than this, Iona. I could feel the sparks of your power as I was coming to your cave... I guess I was wrong." he said, raising his runeblade to strike at her.

Still cringing from the impact of being thrown back on the mountain path, Iona stared up at the falling sword and curled up slightly, raising her balled fists under her chin. This was panic mode. She screamed, a sharp, pure cry that didn't waver. All at once pure light, white golden, burst from her and threw itself out at the man, obliterating the surrounding rock into nonexistence. Unfortunately, the rock under her was the first the to be dissolved, and Iona fell just as the light was to hit the unmounted stranger, the destroying, purifying light falling short of him. The light faded as the rocks and the Gerudo fell and hit the bottom of the mountain. Iona laid on top of a large broken stone, unmoving. Rock continued to fall after she had long fallen, reducing to just sliding gravel down the face of the mountain.

A distance away, Attikus looked back up in the direction of the mountain. "Look!" he exclaimed to Corsair, waking him from a brief nap with a curt shake. A bright white flash, made small by the distance but nearly as bright as the sun shone for a moment, then was gone. Several distant thuds were heard faintly. Corsair frowned, then shook his head. "It's started. We now cannot leave far. There was once time, but now he has met human contact. There's no stopping him. We must track and study him, but we cannot get close," the older man explained, getting up and dusting off his cloak.
Attikus stared back at the mountain where the light had shone. "But what caused the light? He isn't capable of producing light. Do you think there are survivors?" he asked the black haired man, helping him dose the fire as they prepared to move out. Corsair snorted. "Survivors?" His scoffing and grim response hung in the air omniously as Attikus packed without further comment.
"We'll see what's left of the damn mountain by dawn light. Where is he?" Corsair asked the young man. Attikus's eyes visibly brightened in the dark, turning an icy green, then he closed them. "He's approaching the center most base of the mountain quickly," he stated, then opened his eyes, the irises returning to their normal state. Corsair smirked. "Let's go get a closer look, shall we?"

"Hm hm hm..impressive." an amused yet sadistic voice said from behind the knight. "She would be easy to break, don't you think?" Syrus took a step closer and peered over the mountainside. A devious smile stretched across his face, "Hm hm, she isn't going to be very happy to see me? Should I say hello?" he asked glancing over at the knight. Syrus acted as if he had known this man for some time, however he had only just met him.

The knight made no motion to acknowledge Syrus' appearance as he stared down into the hole.
"So... she was hiding her abilities after all..." he muttered to himself and then looked up at Syrus. His ice blue eyes stared into the man and he seemed to chill the air around him.
"You know this girl, stranger?"

Syrus smiled at the knight and stepped up closer to him holding out his hand, "Not as much as I would like to." he answered creepily. "The name's Syrus, and you are?"

The knight looked down at Syrus' hand for a moment before gripping it in an icy hold that was his hand.
"Dracul." was his reply. Cold and unmoving, he released Syrus' hand and looked back down the hole.
"She might be in the Fire Temple by now... you may follow if you wish." he emotionlessly replied before leaping down the hole.

Syrus ignored the odd coldness of the man's handshake. He had a feeling this knight was something extraordinary, "Hm hm, I like him.." he mumbled crazily, then jumped down the hole to follow him.

Her hair covered in dust and dirt, Iona raised herself up from the rocks shakily, her face full of hate and rage. She could hear them, rather feel them, coming down after her. She hefted herself up, blood running into her eyes, her pantleg ripped above the knee. She was tired of running. It intially not in her to run, so why should she any longer?
"What do you want from me?" she asked quietly, not caring whether or not they heard her or would answer her. She was bruised and bleeding, but something in her burned, something that hadn't in a long time. Challenge. Everybody had been weaker than her, but now was her chance to fight somebody at least a bit more tougher.
Climbing up on a large rock, she awaited them, her hands cackling and shining with electricity/light that started to extend up her arm and around her body.
.........................................
"Corsair. There's a problem," Attikus said to his mentor's turned back as they once again stood at the far base of the mountain. This time, the warm lnew light bathed the mountains. Corsair grunted in question, his eyes trained on the avalanche of rock that had no doubt had fallen with the light seen last night.
Again, the handsome youth's eyes were that unsettling green and he stared off in the distance. "There's another one. It's Syrus. He's back and intent on joining forces with this one." Corsair turned around and seemed to study Attikus as if he was a new person. "Is that all?" Attikus absently shook his head. "Ferris's daughter is there too. But she is set on fighting them. She--" A snort from Corsair stopped him mid sentence.
"She would. Foolish girl. You couldn't kill her with an axe. She's just too...stupid," the older man after some thought. He slapped Attikus's back. "Go play hero. Only when she can't hold her own. I'll trail you. It's been a while since I've seen Ferris's spawn." He rubbed a scar on his arm, a nasty, raw thing. Attikus blinked, his eyes turning back to their normal bright color and shook his head, quickly making his way to the site.

Faro inhaled. He sat in the shadow of the mountains surrounding the village he spent his early years in. He had been coming here more often in the recent months. Faro exhaled. He thought that coming here would help him cope with what he had done. Faro inhaled. However, it seemed that no matter how many times he came or how long he stayed, he still felt as if he didn't belong. As if he weren't welcome. He exhaled slowly, then sprang up and left a torrent of flame roar down an empty street. He regretted it instantly. Trying to burn the place down again wouldn't help him come to terms with his actions.
A scream pierced the ensuing silence. No. Not a scream. A note. A single note uttered more cleanly and loudly than he ever could. The sound of falling rock followed closely.
"It's always something." He muttered to himself.
