Mathayus ignored the petty conversation between Kadina and Mike. He had no use for such relationships. Eager to witness the lich Mathayus followed Faro into its lair and stood quietly next to him as it spoke.

Kadina listened intently to Mike's story. What a wild ride! Her heart ached at the mention of his injuries. And what did he mean by Faro working on the inside? Regardless, he seemed to be helping them now, which served him plenty of favor in Kadina's book.
With everyone's patience growing thin, She decided to save further questions for later and followed the men through the passageway. What happened next was more frightening then Kadina expected. She almost screamed when the lich popped out of nowhere, but covered her mouth with her hand and grabbed onto Garen's arm impulsively with the other.
Looked like Faro was in deep shit. Speaking of shit... no, just kidding. Kadina wasn't that scared. But Garen's arm was taking a good squeezing. It'd be a miracle if he didn't need an artificial limb as well.

As the lich presented itself, Garen felt a small shiver coil down his spine. He was not afraid of the undead, in fact, he enjoyed bashing them to rotten pieces with his axe, however, this one was seemed more eerie and disturbing. He kept himself composed in the face of this... thing, but became more alert just in case.
Suddenly, he felt someone grab his arm with vice-like grip. Kadina had latched herself onto his arm out of strong fear. Garen wanted to say something reassuring to her (or was it make a wisecrack?), but the words never left his lips. Garen felt that Faro should do the talking in this situation.

"Sure, no one back me up." He muttered. He wasn't surprised, he could hardly expect a Hylian guard, an assassin he didn't know, a bandit girl who threatened to kill him in their first meeting, and Mathayus to speak in his defense. He was on his own as usual. "I came back to save that man's mind from being consumed." Faro said, pointing at Mike. "He lost his legs a week ago, but got a new pair that's not very fond of him." Faro explained. "It was my fault he's in this state, so I'm doing what I can to set it right. You control time, maybe you can turn back the sun on his legs."
"Interesting." It said, gliding over to Mike. "These legs are not flesh, yet they have all the properties of it." It gave them a rap of the shin and knee, feeling the "bone" beneath the "skin". It felt the "tendon" on the back of the ankle and the "muscle" in the calf. "Everything is as it should be, but it is all the same material. This was powerful magic and alchemy." It said more to itself than the others.
"Can you fix it?" Faro asked.
"In a way. There are alchemical rituals that, with sufficient changes, should produce the desired effect. Unfortunately the process could take years."
"You could speed the effect along."
"I could, but I would have to isolate his mind first, or else time will pass normally for him."
"That's his call, then." Faro turned to Mike. "What say you?"

Mike pondered the ritual for a few moments, then turning to the bookkeeper for questions.
"I don't have any other option but to allow the ritual. But first, I'd like to know a few details," Mike addressed. "You say the process takes years. Without the acceleration of time, how long would this ritual normally take? And while my mind is in 'isolation', will the rest of my body age at all?"

JACKPOT! Kadina could hardly believe her ears. This lich controlled time and knew alchemy! And he could fix Mike's leg too? She should have ran into him a long time ago. Surely he would be able interpret the immortal tablet.. but she left it hidden in the thieves hideout at the base of the canyon. Dammit...
Kadina was curious if this lich was the same Marlux Sidante, a.k.a alchemist/royal advisor to King Ikana, who Maska had told her about. If so, would he be mad that she had the tablet? The last thing she wanted to do was piss him off...
Oh and not to mention the whole time thing. Striking a deal with this guy could put her quest for the time piece to rest. She could go back and save Tagor! But how to approach these matters... Kadina wanted Mike well first. His health was the priority above all others at the moment. Plus, he was the reason she was finding herself in such a fortunate circumstance. Patience would be required of her now. She had to allow time for Mike's healing and for herself to further read this bookkeeper and determine what she could and couldn't ask of him.

"It is difficult to say." The Bookkeeper responded. "As I said, I will have to adjust the ritual significantly to account for the," The lich paused, searching for the right word. "Unnatural materials being transformed. Ordinarily, it depends on what's being changed. Cosmetic changes were not uncommon before The Black Quake and took a few days at most."
Faro shifted a bit upon hearing the name of the cataclysm he'd been sent to discover more about. It carried weight with him, despite meaning almost nothing to Ganon when he delivered the knowledge he'd found. "I can guess that it would take a decade, perhaps more. And yes, of course it will age. That is why we must isolate the mind. You don't want to be on this table for years, do you? Do not worry, your body should still be usable once it is complete, albeit creakier." The Bookkeeper looked to Kadina with its glowing blue eyes. It floated over to her, wrapping its long fingers around its chin. "You have questions as well, I can see it in the way you position yourself."
"Later." Faro said. "I apologize, but we must move quickly on this." He drew a silver ring from his pocket and threw it onto the table. Inlaid in the ring was an exquisitely cut garnet. "I hear that gems are capable of storing vast amounts of energy. Will his mind fit in the ring?"
"So long as he does not resist. It will be a tight fit in a stone that size. Anything like hesitation or stress could break the stone." The Bookkeeper explained. "You must empty yourself of all doubt before proceeding." It said to Mike.

Mathayus listened to the Lich with intrigue. He had never witnessed such a mysterious creature work its magic before. Mathayus wondered if he could manipulate the lich to help him retrieve his daughter from Syrus. However, if the lich found out his scheme, he would be in for some real deep shit. Not to say that he couldn't take the lich, just that it would be incredibly difficult and it was something he could not afford to do. Abandoning that idea he returned to what was at hand; Mike had to free his mind so that whatever the lich did to him wouldn't take his life. He took a step back to watch just how the next few events would unfold, never moving his hand too far from his blade.
