(Ok guys, so first things first, this threads is just for me and Rii/Thell... but there's a reason. I've been thinking lately, for all of our talk of characters being old friends and such... how often do we actually show characters bonding and growing in their various relationships? It's just sort of, show up, save the world, scram. So that's what I'm doing. Eldrin is going to have a series of one on one threads with each of your characters. Assuming you're all down, of course. Don't get me wrong, there can be fighting aplenty, maybe even some world saving... just so long as the main focus, and end result is the evolution of the corresponding relationship. And furthermore, that they both walk away with some lasting change to who they are. Whether it's a pathological fear of snail-shaped clouds or a very noticeable scar across their face. From the sort of thing that doesn't show at all, to something that the whole world can see. A deep dark secret, or something proudly emblazoned across their very being... it doesn't matter just so long as both characters evolve in some, even insignificant, way. So yeah, Rii will be the first one... though some of yours I plan on making chronologically much earlier, Iona's for instance. Anyway, I hope everyone has as much fun with this as I plan to.) The sun breaking through the clouds shot streaks of gold like heavenly light, down upon Hyrule. The clouds themselves, grey, were stained gloriously across their breadth with the ethereal glow. And at the terminal end of one of these fragmented rays, somewhere in the dips and peaks of Death Mountain, the light struck a little waterfall. It was a small, but pleasant thing, and the lulling stream it fed was populated by particularly resilient species of mountain fish, not dissimilar to salmon in taste. It was for these fish, not the view or the cold mountain air, that Eldrin now sat upon the shore of this stream, basking in the sunlight. A little red-poled fishing rod, anchored next to him by a pile of river rocks, was doing the work, while he dozed lightly in the sun. The wicker basket he brought to store the fish was, as of yet, empty. This was in part due to the fact that he wasn't paying any attention to his rod. He had brought some salted pork, freshly baked biscuits with butter, and a bottle of honeyed brandy (all dishonestly acquired, of course) up with him in a little canvas pack. He had also brought some dried strips of venison, which he'd been snacking on for a while now. Odd as it was for him, the thief was having a day off. Though he acted as if every day were a vacation, these sorts of things were not at all common for him. It was actually the suggestion of a nice little old lady (that he was robbing) to "fuck off" that gave him the idea. So he hit up a nearby market stall and made his way up the mountain. He quite thoroughly remembered this stream, and the fish in it, from his days training with Ayishe. He'd always wanted to try the fish here cooked. If he remembered correctly, there was a shallow alcove behind the waterfall that led nowhere, but it was a nice place to camp out for the night. And that was his plan... unless some adventure came along to distract him... Some time later...Eldrin looked around... clearly confused. He had waited at least ten minutes for the universe to pick up on his prompt... and yet, there were no dragons, no monsters, no intrigue... no new friends hunting down old enemies or heirlooms... that was... new. It was also pretty boring. The thief sighed and stretched out on the rocky shore. He supposed if no adventure was going to come along, a nap would suffice.

"What. Is. That?"
From her spot knee-deep in water near the rocky red-brown shore with her fingers sifting through a handful of warm-colored stones, Rii glanced over to her daughter's perch - a small boulder just by the stream. The small Twili-Zora pointed to a sturdy looking fish about a foot long with a jaw wide enough to swallow a tankard and bored orange eyes.
Rii giggled and turned to face the fish and her child. "A Hair-Toothed Snapper. They wipe nutrients off of the moss and coatings of rocks buried in river bottoms." She gave her a carefree smile and playfully put one hand on top of the one holding stones, miming a sort of snapping jaw motion with the two. "And then they swallow it."
"They. Wipe it off. The rocks?" the toddler asked in her disjointed voice, still unused to smooth human speech at her age.
Rii nodded, setting down her handful of rocks on the shore, tossing a select few into her satchel, and wading through the cool water towards the girl's boulder. "Watch, watch, watch," she instructed gently, plucking a fist-sized rock covered in moss from the bed of the stream and holding it just over the surface of the water.
Her daughter crouched, cocking her head to one side in curious. "Watch, watch, watch… what?" she inquired, leaning forward as the Hair-Toothed Snapper lazily started to circle just beneath her mother's hand. And then slowly its squarish head began to emerge, and its large maw opened to reveal soft, pink hair-like teeth. Rii lowered the rock nearer and nearer until the fish inched upwards just enough to close its mouth around her hand and the rock within. Releasing it, Rii gently pulled out her arm, laughing at the way the hair teeth brushed her now human skin.
"Oh, it is such a wonderfully different sensation without scales," Rii shouted happily.
"It. Ate it!" the small Twili-Zora squealed, nearly falling into the water as she leaned to watch the fish's jaw move back and forth, cleaning the rock. To keep herself from diving headfirst, she frantically wrapped her arm's around Rii's torso, fingers gently digging into Rii's skin.
"Not quite, little pearl scales," Rii corrected gently. Curious by her mother's words, the child continued to watch as suddenly the fish spat the rock back out. Rii bent down and retrieved it before it sank back into the sand. "See?"
"It. Didn't. Eat it?" Her small white, slightly webbed fingers slowly pulled away from Rii and stretched out towards the shiny rock in curiosity. Rii allowed her to take it. "The fishy. Cleaned it! It's so clean. So clean."
Rii giggled and picked up her child, cradling her smaller form to her chest and spinning her around in the shallows of the stream. "So clean, dearest star shine smile," she repeated. "What else? What else do you want to know about?"
The white-scaled, red-and-yellow-eyed child looked around, now slightly taller in her mother's arms. "Explore!" she eventually whispered loudly.
"Oh, find something to know about first, then?" Rii waded to the edge and stepped out of the stream, picking up her satchel. "A marvelous suggestion. How about we follow the stream?"
The former Zora slid her daughter down to the rocky ground so that they could walk hand in scaled hand, and she knelt for a moment to pick up her staff where it sat next to the satchel's former seat. "Mommy was raised. In a stream?" the girl asked as she walked beside Rii.
"Yes."
"Is that… why you don't. Wear. Clothes. All the time?" the toddler asked, referencing Rii's current lack of tunic and pants.
Rii had entirely forgotten she was missing what many cultures she had encountered deemed a social norm. She glanced down at her figure, her human flesh slightly tanned now that she had been human for a few weeks, the muscles once concealed by scales now slightly more evident, though not skillfully built and maintained like a fighter's. "No," she eventually said. "In Zora culture, we rarely wear clothes at all. Except for armor on occasion. Do you wish I would put on my clothes again. sweetest heart?"
As they walked the child hummed in thought. "I. Don't. Know." Rii was about to perhaps ask her again in a different way, after all the little one was still wearing a black dress. But suddenly the child stopped and pointed towards a person stretched along the shore. "What. is. That?"
And Rii smiled when her green eyes fell upon the familiar figure. "Eldrin!"

Eldrin's eyes snapped open at the sound of his friend's voice. It was a lovely voice, soft, yet mature. A nurturing voice, yet still alive with curiosity and a certain spark for the more fun side of life. Yet it was different. It seemed almost... human? Eldrin looked up, but did not see Rii before him. Instead he saw a human woman, fully nude, holding a small, odd looking Zora. What. The. Fuck? Eldrin shook his head for a moment to clear it. "Rii?" he asked clearly unsure of whom he was talking to. Then he had what would be best described as "An Eldrin Moment". These were typically periods of time when Eldrin and Eldrin's sense of logic decided to take a break, and define their relationship as 'open'.
"RII?! Rii? What happened to you?!" He yelled, wading into the water frantically. He was looking at the child in the human woman's arms. Because of course he was. "Who shrank you?! Who changed your colors?! Was it a witch?! Was it her?!" Eldrin glared defiantly at the human woman. How dare she transform his fishy friend into a smaller, weirdly patterned version of herself. He might've left his weapons on the shore, but he was about to give this sorceress the meanest swirly of her life.
And then he saw her eyes. Green. Sea green. The same amused look that had gazed at him throughout so many of his antics in the past. "Rii?" Eldrin embraced his friend in a giant hug, taking care not to squish Not-Rii in between them. It was a long moment before he remembered that she was naked. He hastily let go and laughed, trying to distract her from the redding of his cheeks. "What happened? You're... human?"

The little Twili-Zora wrapped both her hands around Rii's arm at Eldrin's abrupt approach, but otherwise merely stared at him as he spoke to her. Her mommy wasn't running or rushing to hide her.
Actually, Rii was giggling at Eldrin's antics. She drew the toddler slightly closer to her, pressing to the front of her thighs. Rii was about to correct Eldrin's fantastical conclusion when his gaze snapped to her's.
"Rii?" Upon realizing his mistake, Eldrin embraced her. It was a curious occurrence on several levels. She hadn't embraced him before - especially not since she'd lost her scales, and now she radiated warmth where before her body had adjusted to the temperature around it like that of a cold-blooded fish. As he held her close and she let her staff slide from her fingers to wrap an arm around him, she felt the distinct absence in her head. The silence. An empty void. No voices to murmur their little tidbits of information. His name or his age or his allergies. No little whispers of a headache or a bruised hip or a paper cut on his left ring finger.
Rii found the new sensations of this body fascinating. To have golden hair sprouting from her head that could be tugged by the wind or be left to restlessly murmur against her cheeks and neck, or to feel the distinct edges of rocks beneath her soft feet where there once were hardened scales, was an enchanting experience. It was all marvelous in the merely physical sense, but... she did not care for the loneliness that ached inside of her. Her mind had once been a great hall brimming with her ancestors, healers with knowledge of far off oceans and deep undersea caves and rare little herbs tucked into the rocky cliff faces bordering grand cities. Now it was empty, and her own thoughts seemed to echo - futile - as they hit the walls and ceiling. She couldn't even sense the space where they had once been, as if there was no room for it in this new head of her's. Her mind was no longer a great hall, but a room.
Eventually Eldrin jerkily pulled away, cheeks red, and she cocked her head to one side at that. Why were his cheeks that shade? Did he have a fever? No, he hadn't felt particularly warm when they had hugged, and besides, that would be a rather sudden fever for it to appear while they were hugging. Hm.
"What happened? You're... human?"
Yes. Well, there was that to discuss, she supposed. Though where to begin when there was not exactly a clear beginning to the story? She glanced down at her body and then back to Eldrin. "Much has happened since we last chanced each other, Eldrin," she replied with a smile, one that from one corner read happy and from the other read sad. "I was poisoned while attending the Festival of Time. This wonderfully unfamiliar form of mine was not the intended effect."
