The sun gleamed radiantly upon the salty sea surface as gentle waves rocked Kadina like a baby in the bed of an old dinghy. She lay with her arms folded over her eyes shielding them from the harsh rays of the sun, but there was a smile spread 'cross her lips. She was enjoying the pleasant lapping of water against the sides of her tiny vessel and the kiss of the sun against her tan supple skin. She was wearing as little clothing as usual; nothing but a sun bleached string bikini and a square of grey fabric wrapped around her hips. Necklaces hung at various lengths around her neck either cradled in the crease of her bosom or falling off to the sides of her abdomen depending on their length. There was a frail golden chain clasped around her neck and a single strand of it trailed down her torso until it reached her navel where it then split off in two and circled her tiny waist. Just more jewelry than was necessary, but she couldn't resist the shinier things in life. She generally sported such adornments just as soon as she could steal them. Her bohemian appearance was topped off by a beach blown hairstyle, her dark locks were messy and crusted with salt, and an anklet strung of shells and beads around her right ankle. Nothing but a canteen of rum and the bandit's effects (two daggers in leather sheaths on a belt) sat inside the dinghy near her feet. What the gypsy was doing in the boat way out in the middle of the ocean was a story to be told under the stars with good company and 10 times the alcohol, but long story short, she had done fucked up. Nevertheless, and despite the heat of the sun magnified by the sheen of the glassy sea, the young rogue's spirits were high. A sea shanty escaped her lips in a light but raspy timbre. "Throw down ye anchors and close yer sails Throw up the flags and the bottles of ale Let the depths drown yer worries and the maids steal ye hearts At morning's light, we sail. Yo ho!"It was a tune she had picked up from hanging around various sea ports and pirates abound. She would have very well adopted the pirate's life if she hadn't been such a lone thief, though she admired the camaraderie within a crew of such criminals. However, Kadina had her own crew so to speak. And she was missing them. Terribly. It had been too many months since she had last seen Argoth and listened to his wise lectures. Perhaps the same time since she had ruffled her fingers through young Max's hair and raced him here and far. She missed tickling him just to hear his childish laughter and running around with him on her back as they took off to stir up trouble. She was a terrible influence on the boy, but she couldn't help herself. She hadn't seen Artie since they travelled to his beach house and indulged in booze and the promises of far off places. Eldrin had been there too, that ol' bastard. He was likely off in some foreign land having countless adventures and branding new scars with unforgettable tales to accompany them. She reminisced fondly of her friends and hoped she that she would make it out of this stranded situation soon enough to either track them all down or stumble into them (as it usually went). Suddenly, Kadina heard the cry of a seagull as it landed on the rim of the boat just beside her face. At first, the reality of its presence did not register with the castaway. The heat had burnt away her sanity and left her quite delirious. She moved her forearm just slightly enough to cast a observational glance at the bird before covering her eyes once more. "Come to squabble and steal the last drop of my rum, you devil? I advise that you take flight before I dismember your wings and you cease to feel the trade winds beneath them. Savvy?" To which the only response was a drop of steaming shit on her bare neck as the bird took flight. Astounded and repulsed, Kadina sat up with a look of disgust and shock as she readied a string of obscenities. Before the foul words could escape her dry lips, her eyes grew wide resorting from a scowl to sheer surprise as she looked upon a giant ship approaching. Tag: Azrael/Iris

"SHIP!!!"
Edward bolted up, his hood which had been pulled over his head and eyes and acted like a makeshift sleep mask fell down and draped across his back and his golden yellow hair spilled out and covered his upper back as he sat up right.
"A ship? Perfect... been a while since we plundered."the pirate assassin smirked, as he started to stand up. He picked up his twin cutlasses and holstered them to his waist. His hands moved up to pull his hood back over his head.
Edward let out one final yawn before he joined this crew out on the main deck as they pulled alongside the small dinghy. A scowl of confusion scrawled across Edward's face.
"Ain't a ship... but there might be something on it." he sighed before making a hand motion to let his crew know to wait for his signal as he leapt over the side of the ship and onto the small dinghy, making it rock slightly. Although it rocked enough to allow some water to spill into the ship.
Edward looked up and froze for a moment as he registered what he was gazing upon.
"Well well... ain't you a sight for sore eyes, Kadina."

It was difficult to really see in detail against the glare of the sun. With fatigue, she meekly lifted her hand above her brow and squinted. Her gaze narrowed on the sail cloth that whipped against the wind at the top of the crows nest.
"Impossible..." She said to herself, her words barely making it beyond a crackling dry sussurrus. Her hand dropped to her side in disbelief and suddenly the ship was upon her as quick as the rising tide. Its shadow hovered over her, eclipsing the sun with a pleasant coolness on her skin.
Kadina was not a particularly lucky person. That was partially what made her such a crook. To be a thief and a con is to manipulate chance in your favor when you are cursed to have none... Or, more simply and literally, to flat out snatch it for yourself. Either of those strategies worked, in her opinion, so long as she made off with the objects of her desire in the end. But, back to being unlucky, this was one of those situations. Any other person would have been counting their lucky stars that out of the entire vast ocean they had been discovered in their stranded drift by a vessel as grand as this. But it was a cruel twist of fate that out of all the ships to find her lost at sea, it was the ship of her ex lover, Edward Kidd.
Before she could curse under her breath, the pirate himself was bounding over the ballister and landing in her dingy!
She stared at him in awe, her mouth hanging open and dry, her neck running with bird shit as he greeted her.
"Well well... Ain't you a sight for sore eyes, Kadina."
She took a second to mentally pinch herself. A breath of air escaped in a humorous scoff as her mouth transitioned into her charming smile. Her dimples making a rapidly short appearance before her lips relaxed into more of a smirk. She bit her bottom lip trying to determine if he were being sarcastic. With a click of her tongue, she spoke "I don't suppose you've noticed my latest accessory then." Kadina gracefully gestured to the bird poop on her neck with sarcastic dignity. Her cheeks were a little flushed, but it was hard to tell what was causing it: the heat, the rum, or Edward's presence.
"How is it that out of the whole wide ocean, the two of us find each other, hm?" She placed her hands on her hips and tried to regain her cool composure, per usual. Squinting one eye to cope with the bright reflection of the sun coming off the water's surface, she tilted her head at him.
Truth was, she would be lying if she said it wasn't nice to see an old friend and a familiar face, regardless of their uncomfortable and short-lived romantic history.

Edward moved his hands to lower his hood back over his shoulders and he crossed his arms and smirked as Kadina showed off the bit of bird shit that was roasting on her neck.
"You going all natural, Kadina?." Edward joked as he watched her stand back up. "I'd prefer it if you stuck with the gold and the jewels. Not only does it shine better in the sun, it also doesn't reek. But, it does smell better than my crew." he jested.
"How is it that out of the whole wide ocean, the two of us find each other, hm?" Kadina had said as Edward shifted his crossed arms and he raised an eye. That was some stroke of luck that out of all of the floating dingys in the ocean, he had come across the one with his ex lover halfway passed out drunk with a bit of roasted bird poop on her neck.
"The winds of fate are always kind to folks like us, love." he said with a tone of seriousness in his voice.
Edward usually spouted that bit when he was trying to woo a lady. But, he was known to say that in serious moments like this. He was rather free spirited and an atheist. He did not believe in the Gods or Goddesses of Hyrule or Termina. But, living as a pirate for most of his life he did gain some faith in fate and destiny and luck as well.
"It's been especially kind to the both of us on this day, Kadina. You see. I'm actually on my way to secure some treasure. There are sure to be tons of traps and natives and the sort... and fate has allowed me to cross paths with one of the best thieves I have had the pleasure of... knowning." Edward's face blushed slightly at the last bit, clearing his throat he regained his posture.
"What do you say, my dear? Are you in or out?"

Fate was a funny thing. A bullshit belief. Kadina had distinct memories of her mother and father using the term often along with another – destiny – but she never really saw the appeal. Infact, the whole tribe believed in such hogwash. As gypsies and fortune tellers, they believed in fate, spirits, and mysticism the way most people believed in Hylia. However, Kadina had always remained rather agnostic on the subject. She was more fond of the terms chance, luck, and coincidence and believed that you either created your own luck or were a victim of chance. Then again, what do you expect from a selfish, greedy cutpurse with a strong-will and determination to do whatever the hell she pleased?
Edwards babble about fate was almost enough to make her dive overboard, but then he mentioned treasure and she perked up with interest.
"There are sure to be tons of traps and natives and the sort... and fate has allowed me to cross paths with one of the best thieves I have had the pleasure of... knowing."
Kadina turned a bright red. She rubbed the back of her neck nervously as she looked across the water trying to hide her face. Worst case scenario, she got stranded with him and a barrel of rum again. Actually, the barrel of rum would be okay. The stranded with her ex lover part, not so much. But how could she turn down adventure?
Ha! She couldn't! That bitch was sold.
"Ah, what the hell. I'm in. But not because of the flattery, mind you... though your compliments are much appreciated." She flipped her hair and smiled.
"Well don't just stand there. We're losing daylight! Let's hoist this baby up, eh? I can't leave my ole girl for the fickle mistress of the sea to swallow up, now can I?" She lifted her fingers to her mouth and whistled up at the crew.
"Two lines, please!" She shouted and was almost immediately gratified. A single rope that split off into two lines with hooks on the ends were lowered just above the two pirates sitting pretty in the beat up dingy. Kadina adjusted a hook on each side of the little vessel and secured them on the cusped edges. With two mighty tugs of the rope, the crew was signaled to start heaving.
Trying her best not to give Edward the wrong idea, she pulled him towards her in the center of the boat to distribute the weight as evenly as possible. Once aboard the main deck, Kadina preceded Ed as she climbed out of the boat. "Easy now!" She shouted as the crew carefully maneuvered the dingy onboard. Not bothering to wait for Edward to catch up – though she knew he was close behind – she began to head straight for the hull.
Per usual, she was grabbing things that didn't belong to her as she went along. This list included a bandana sticking out from the pocket of one pirate (which she used to wipe the bird shit from her neck), a canteen off the belt of another (for which we was happy to take the last gulps of whiskey), and a pocket watch with a picture of a rather clean-cut and pretty looking man.
"Wait!" She said stopping in her tracks and holding her arm out to bumper Edward. She observed the picture of the man then looked back at the pirate she had stolen it from, another dude. "Oh." She said as her eyebrows went up in realization while she turned back around. She shrugged as she clicked the locket watch closed and carried on.
"Where's the rum?"
For a guest and a newcomer, she certainly wasted no time in exploration and busily went about the ship as if she owned the place. If they were going to be treasure hunting, she would need booze. But not too much booze, on account of last time....

Edward clambored back onto the ship with Kadina and watched as his crew hoisted her little dingy up to the side of their ship (one of their life boats had to be discarded to make room for it...).
Edward turned on his heel and followed the thief as she started to help herself to some of his crew's belongings. Some of it was mostly shared amongst the crew anyway. A thought if Kadina was well versed with consuming as many oranges or limes as she could to prevent scurvy as she drank from the canteen.
His thoughts were cut short as he ran into her outstretched arm at his diaphram. The Pirate Assassin eyed the trinket she had snatched. A small pocket watch with the picture of a male in it.
"Yes. Some of my crew row that way. We don't judge here." Edward replied, adjusting his belt as Kadina lowered her arm. He took this moment to move swiftly in front of her.
"I usually don't care about your habits and I even partake of it myself. But, while you are on this ship. I can't allow you to steal from my crew. If I catch you stealing again... the crew might get very... upset." Edward stated. "Also... the owner of that pocket watch might be a bit ornery if he finds out you took it. Best to give it back soon. He's got a mean streak as wide as the ocean." he added, before patting her on the shoulder. The wind picked up and he turned his back towards Kadina and gazed out at the ocean. The clouds were starting to darken.
"Better a storm than those pair of viking brothers..." Edward muttered, he turned around to face Kadina.
"You haven't run into a pair of viking brothers as of late have you? They've killed a good number of my crew. The larger one is like a bear. I swear he just lives for battle..." Edward started to go on, weaving a tale of his last encounter with these viking brothers.

"Fair 'nough." Kadina surrendered as she happily handed over the handkerchief slopped with bird shit, the empty canteen, and the gay sailor's sappy locket shoving it as a bundle into Edward's chest. It was nothing personal, of course. She was just a mannerless cunt. "I didn't really wanna keep any o that anyway. Tell me more of these vikings!" She inquired as she proceeded down into the hull with her eyes peeled for the barrels of rum, happy to be rid of her meaningless materials once they had served their purpose. Except for the locket. That really had no purpose, though she was sure it served the owner well in... lonely times.
"I can't say that I've seen or met any, which is unusual. You know I stay roaming. I think I would remember if I had met any during my travels. Well... If I was sober... which is like... never." She stopped in her tracks realizing for a fleeting second that most of her life was a mixed up blur of events, but she simply shrugged and ducked her head as she descended a wooden staircase into the hull. The light of the sun filtered in enough to illuminate the ships storage cavity. Like a moth to a flame, she spotted barrels rum and drunkenly, yet gracefully, strutted towards them. Her hands bounced out beside her with excitement as she walked but mostly because her balance while drunk was absolute shit and being on a ship at sea didn't help. Happy hands for balance! She didn't seem to mind that she looked like an inebriated musical conductor half the time. After all, life was her symphony, and she had a playbill full of tricks.
