As Faro watched the battle, it became more and more clear that the enemy force was finished. He had learned much thus far. Though there was no one so close to him among Ganon's followers, Faro realized that he may have to fight his friends for his freedom. Like Mathayus, he was the best of his orginization, but not even he could fight off multiple elite members at once. Two in particular would be of major concern.
Faro had also found a way to repay Eldrin for helping him track Mathayus here. The Gerudo, he figured also deserved to know the truth, she too had seen him relive the day his village died. No, not died. Was slain by him. He approached Iona to invite her to the ruins.
"If you want to know why I came here and what happened in the forest, meet me in the Goron village, three days from now." It wasn't until after it was said that he questioned whether or not she heard him.

Iona paused. What? Despite the din of battle, Iona hesitated, thinking. Should she go? She still needed to find her parents. She still had to check in with her organization. But why not? She needed a vacation anyways, to get lost from her organization and everything. "Sure! I'd love to come! Hey, it's that way right?" she asked Faro, pointing to the south.

It didn't take him long to figure out that she had no sense of direction. He hesitated as well. Iona was excellent in battle, but apparently gets lost faster than one's wallet in a thieves' guild. Her problem flustered him, and it showed.
"Uh, never mind. I'll find you." He left to offer Eldrin the same deal. He found Eldrin in the middle of a group of enemy ninja. Knowing Eldrin wouldn't be burned, Faro let go of his limits, burning a dozen men to ash. "If you don't to suffer the same fate, leave now!" He bellowed. More than half of them dropped their weapons and fled. Faro killed those who remained to fight. "Now we can speak. I wanted to thank you for helping me get here, and learn from Mathayus' predicament. Meet me in the Goron Village three days from now. And when we reach our destination, no stealing, please." He asked.

Eldrin smiled, "Sounds fun!" He said, collecting Ayame and Ikaru's katana(s?). He would have to steal extra in the next three days to repress his near constant desire to steal. With one last glance at Mathayus, he departed from the battlefield strewn with mutilated ninja to begin his stealing binge immediately.

As Mike dispatched five of the ninja the remaining seven began to falter. Thier formation and synchronization was beginning to get sloppy, who could blame them after what they all saw Mike do to their brethren. Unfortunately for all of them, this was just the opening Mathayus was looking for, and he quickly regained his composure to return to the offensive. The next man to lunge in and aim a punch at his face was the unlucky one. Mathayus leaned back to dodge while simultaneously raising his hands to latch onto his attacker. He yanked the ninja into the path of the rest of his companions and the full force of their assault rained down on him.
Mathayus knew this would be nothing but a minor distraction, as the ninja mercilessly hammered him out of the way. In the split second it took them to remove their ill-fated comrade Mathayus had back handsprung away, withdrawing four shuriken from the pouch on his hip. As he landed on his feet the master ninja released the projectiles at his foes. Each individual shuriken struck its intended target, dispatching four of the ninja as they all buried themselves in their necks. Blood fountained from thier wounds and they all crashed to the earth as large black lumps. Three left, he thought, rushing in for the kill. The first ninja propelled a kick at his ribcage, but Mathayus was already there to block it.
He gripped the man's ankle and quickly wrenched him forward, bringing the ninja's caprtured leg up to block a punch aimed at his chest. Mathayus could hear the bones break from both of the ninjas. The first one's shin snapped in two and the second man's hand crumpled into a broken heap. Niether cried out, as they were trained not to. Mathayus slammed a kick into the ninja with the broken hand, tossing him into his comrade on the left, who was in the middle of throwing a punch. The two of them rolled across the ground for several feet before skidding to a halt. Mathayus finished the ninja he was holding onto by smashing his other foot into his face. He sailed backward, his neck flailing as it snapped from the force of Mathayus' kick.
The revenge bent ninja didn't even look at the two remaining ninja as he killed them. He simply withdrew an explosive kunai and whipped it into the ground before them. And before either of them had time to react, it swallowed them whole in a massive cloud of fire and kinetic energy. Bits of each of them flew in every direction, blood splattering the ground and raining from the sky.The light from the blast illuminated the darkness all around, revealing the trail of carnage Mathayus and his companions had left in their wake. The blood speckled Mathayus as he walked over to his downed wife, who by this time had the kunai out of her hand. A scourn was branded across her face and she spat at Mathayus. "I am not dead yet!" she yelled, leaping to her feet. Ayame struck out at him but he easily knocked the feeble attack aside. He delivered a heel to her the side of her face, sending her back to the ground.
Ayame began to pathetically scramble backward. "It's over, Ayame. I won," Mathayus asserted. For the first time since the start of their fight, he could clearly see the fear in her eyes. And even though he was fully prepared to end her life, he could not help but feel sorry for her. She was but a product of a madman, fed lies to keep her loyal. This angered him when he thought about it, and he hurriedly pushed the thoughts out of his mind. Such thoughts would alter his decision, and he could not afford that now. He knew what he had to do. "Master Takagi! Help me!" she pleaded angrily. But the old man was nowhere to be seen. "Coward," Mathayus spat, "He abandoned you once he realized there was no chance of vicotry." Mathayus scooped up his katana from the ground, and began to slowly approach Ayame. "I will end your life swiftly, Ayame. I'm so sorry it had to come to this," he apologized. "No wait! Mathayus, babe don't do it. Let us go back to what he had before all of this. We can be together again," Ayame begged. Mathayus shook his head, "You had your chance. I gave you a choice Ayame, and you refused. You have chosen death. There is no going back. Not anymore."
Mathayus raised his blade to end the life of a woman he once loved, "Goodbye, Ayame." The next few words Ayame spoke were something Mathayus was completely unprepaired for. "We have a daughter!" She screamed.
Mathayus' eyes augmented to the size of the moon, and his blade stopped just short of Ayame's throat. He didn't know what to think of this, she could be lying to save her life. But an instinct told him she wasn't. "Her name is Natsumi..she's 6. W-we could have a family Mathayus, you don't have to do this." Mathayus lowered his blade and thought for a moment. If what she was saying was true, killing Ayame would prove much more difficult. If they indeed had a child together, he would need proof. Moreover, Ayame was the only mother figure that Natsumi had, so in killing Ayame he would be condemning her to a life of orphanage. There was no way he could take care of her, not with his line of work, plus he probably wasn't cut out for parenthood anyway. Mathayus shook his head, what was he thinking? This organization and this woman are both evil, and Natsumi needs to live a life away from this chaos. He knew what he had to do.
"If what you say is indeed true, then killing you would be the best thing for our daughter. She need not be raised in this lifestyle."
"No, no Mathayus you can't! She needs me, I'm the only parent she has!" Ayame pleaded. "I'll find her a new one," he replied with a cold maliciousness. The words hit Ayame like a freight train, and tears began to fall silently from her face. Mathayus just stared at her feeling absolutely no sympathy. It ended now.
The final blow was quick and Ayame died instantaneously. Mathayus remained silent but hung his head for a brief second as if to acknowledge the once existing love between them. He clenched his katana even tighter as he looked up, a menacing glare shooting around the battlefield. Old man Tagaki was next, and he would stop at nothing until he found him. Or maybe he didn't need to look. The sorry excuse for a ninja came strolling around the old headquarters with a small child at his front. Mathayus immediately assumed this was Natsumi, and his eyes augmented at the sheer resemblance the two of them shared. This was all the proof he needed.
"Stand back Mathayus! I don't want to have to hurt her," the old man croaked. He was barely holding it together. Takagi was desperate. He knew he had lost. Little Natsumi looked terrified and confused. It pained Mathayus to see her this way but he remained silent; frantically calculating a way to get the crazed man away from his daughter. She was cute as a button, wearing a teeny pink dress with a white bow in her hair. "You are gonna leave here right now Mathayus! I'll do it! You know I will!" Takagi was at the end of his rope, Mathayus knew it, his mind raced for a solution but he couldn't think of anything. "Just hand over the girl, and I'll go," he replied cautiously. "I'm not falling for that! You leave, she l...Gah!
To Mathayus, everything happened too fast for him to register. Which was odd for him because his senses were so keen he never missed anything. He figured it was the result of his nerves for his daughter. Before Takagi could finish his sentence, a small blade was apparently thrust into his back and it protruded out the front of his chest. The next thing he knew the mysterious killer flung the old man to the side in a bloody heap. Natsumi screamed and slapped her hands over her eyes. She began to cry.
Mathayus had never seen this man before, but from what he had heard from eavesdropping on his acquaintances, they had. Syrus he believed his name was.
Syrus inhaled heavily, then exhaled in delight. "How... satisfying," he growled. Syrus then glanced up at Mathayus, "Ahhh look who it is, Mathayus, the worlds greatest ninja. Oh yes, I know who you are. I've been watching you very closely lately. And I've decided that now is as good as any for us to get to know each other. Oh, and I need to borrow this," he finished with placing his hand upon Natsumi's head. The little girl shivered and let out a tiny scream. Mathayus clenched his teeth together and took a step forward, "I'll end you," Mathayus breathed in his best villain voice. "Oh I'm sure you will, but for now, just stay where you are. I'd love to explain the whole situation to you now but I have more pressing matters at hand currently. So I'll be seeing you Mathayus, real soon in fact..hahahahah!! And he and Natsumi were gone. The maniacal laughter ringing in the ninja's ears like constant, irritating bells.
Searing white hot anger raged inside Mathayus, and a new found determination arose as well. He instantly knew what he had to do next. If anyone knew where Syrus was, or if Syrus was planning anything, he was damn sure it involved Maximus. So Mathayus turned around and immediately set off in search of the boy.
