Elye looked up into V's eyes. She looked as if she were frustrated. Elye realized that he probably pissed her off by taking the jar from her. "I'm sorry, do you want to do this by yourself? It's in a tough spot on your side to do by yourself. He handed the jar back to her. "Sorry. If you want help, I'm here." He gave her a forgiving look and leaned back so he was sitting on the ground.

She didn't get it. Valentina deserved no such kindness from this man, she knew this. Yet his generosity seemed to have no end. Elye sure had a big heart for an assassin, that is, if he was one at all. She found herself looking at him intensely, yet again, as she mulled all this over. "I don't understand..." She looked to him and pursed her lips. "Why are you doing all this for me?"

"Why are you doing all this for me?" V asked him.
"Why? Because I trust you. Even if I've only known you for a little while. The last person I trusted this much was my best friend who died a few years ago. But you remind me of him and I feel like I am indebted to you because of what he did for me." He looked into her eyes with caring but also a hint of sorrow because of his memory of his friend. "Now let's get you cleaned up. Whether you want to do it yourself or if you want me to help is up to you. But that's my top priority now so I won't leave you alone until you're patched up. He gave a weak smile to her, mainly to show support.

There was a pain in his eyes she couldn't help but feel for. So he's strong in more ways than one. Valentina must have been literally moved by his sadness, as it wasn't long after he'd finished speaking that she'd find herself inching closer to Elye, finally accepting his help. Embarrassed of her stubbornness, she tried her best to be friendly. Smiling at the ground, she sheepishly asked him, "So... I'm sorry about your friend. What... was she like?"

"He. What was he like? He didn't immediately trust me either. But after spending a few days together he realized that we were a lot alike. He could make me laugh and could always lift my spirits when I thought things were getting dim. He was noble and always tried to redeem himself, to give himself a name. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't be here." He let the last sentence fade away as he bowed his head for his fallen friend. He tried his best to not let any tears flow down his face. He looked back up so that he could see V once again. "I'm sorry, but I'm not too comfortable talking about my past yet. Can I ask why you're so closed off?"

"Not a people person." Valentina admitted. "I work best alone. And I'm sorry about your friend... and that I remind you of him." Though she had no clue how she'd possibly resemble such a admirable man. She was neither noble or encouraging. In fact, she was pretty sure she had only given this man trouble today. Maybe she wasn't a people person because of this, because conversations like these were difficult, and Valentina hardly knew how to respond to his confessions. She could only condole for so long before she was out of words. In this regard, Valentina considered friendships tedious, which was another reason she avoided it. Lastly, she figured had it not been for their bonds, he wouldn't be so hurt by the death of his friend. No matter how she looked at it, people were better off alone. That is what she believed.

"You should be proud that you remind me of him. I'm finding that a lot of people work alone. It's like most people let someone from their past ruin any chance of future friendships. It's as if no one gives anyone a chance to show who they are. I can assure you and anyone else that I meet that I'm different, as long as you give me a chance. Maybe I'm different because of my past. Maybe it's just who I am. I haven't figured it out yet." He really didn't know what to tell her. He just felt that he should me nice to her no matter what.

Now this was interesting. An assassin and a princess. The fascinating interaction between the two persuaded Kadina to stay and eavesdrop, though it was difficult to resist her hunger. Besides, something this entertaining demanded a snack. Like popcorn at the cinema, it just wasn't the same without fisting your face full of salty buttery goodness... or in Zelda terms... deku nuts? Kadina noticed several hanging around her head and began to pluck them as quietly as she could. The leaves shook every now and then causing Kadina a few mini heart attacks, but much like the outrageous grumbling of her stomach, it went unnoticed by the grounded couple. They must have really been taken with one another. Kadina smirked at the thought, shelled a deku nut, and popped it in her mouth. She let her feet dangle from the branch as she got comfortable and listened. Her analysis was as follows: Kadina rested her head against the tree and thought about romance. This gypsy had happily accepted long ago that it wasn't in the cards for her. It seemed to come easy to the young assassin below. Like it just came in and swept him off his feet as naturally as the wind blew, but Kadina never could understand it. Seduction. That was easier in her opinion. All it took was a corset and a sultry voice... maybe a little perfume and breath mints. But love seemed hard and overbearing and restricting. It seemed like something you had to work at. That, or maybe it was something she simply never knew how to recognize unless seen between others. She shrugged and ate another deku nut trying not to ponder such sappy icky feelings for too long. She didn't want it to lead to some sort of self discovery. Besides, Kadina was happy with the single and free life. It was the whole reason she left home in the first place. "It's like most people let someone from their past ruin future friendships...."Yup. Spot on. Elye's words really hit home. He reminded her so much of Max, it was insane. She hated being reminded of how cold she was for closing Faro off that day in the cave, like no one could understand where she was coming from, but hearing it enough times, she knew she was in the wrong. Kadina lightly growled under her breath and threw another nut into her mouth chewing irritatedly. Suddenly, there was a rustle of leaves behind her. Her eyes widened in panick and she swallowed the nut with a loud gulp. She hoped it wasn't the bandits from before, though she doubted they'd be back so soon. She slowly turned her head and saw two skull kids jumping at her and throwing fistfuls of deku nuts from behind. Startled, Kadina fell from the branch with a loud thud as deku nuts exploded on the ground around her with loud snaps and flashes of color in their bursts. The skull children jumped down on top of her head and pulled at her hair! One of them yanked charms right out of her braids before giggling devilishly and prancing away. The other jumped down and threw another batch of nuts at her feet causing her to jump in the air and dance around to avoid their explosions. The last thing she wanted was to be stunned after such an embarrassing and boisterous entrance into the previously emotional conversation. After the deviants escaped, Kadina stood there fuming in anger and aching from the fall. her hair was ratted and messy and her clothes were covered in dirt. She turned to Elye and Val. Kadina cleared her throat and began to uncomfortably twirl a strand of her hair nervously in her finger while rocking on the heels of her feet. "Well, this is awkward..."

(YOU ACTUALLY MADE THAT ENTRANCE HAPPEN. THAT ACTUALLY JUST HAPPENED. SDLKFJSAKJAFDHKJ ;D )
Elye seemed pretty in-touch with his emotions for an assassin. But somehow, she sort of liked the oddity. It made her almost snort when he'd gotten done explaining himself. She hoped he wouldn't take her small chuckle the wrong way. She was in no shape to have daggers coming at her. His words made her forget all about the w-
Suddenly there was a crash, the sound of small explosions and out from a tree emerged a bandit girl. "Well, this is awkward..."
Valentina quickly looked up at the commotion. Another enemy? She wasn't so sure. What she could depict, however, was that this woman had nothing to do with the grunts from earlier. She was familiar with their fighting style. This entrance was like something she'd never seen before, although the way she twirled her fingers in her hair made it seem unintentional.

There was a series of small explosions going on to Elye's right. He stood up and saw a gypsy jumping to avoid the small explosions.
"Well, this is awkward..." She said to Elye and V. Elye wasn't sure if this woman was an enemy or not, but it didn't matter; his daggers were a few feet away stuck in the dirt. If she were an enemy, he wouldn't have time to pick them up and defend himself. I'm not making that mistake again He thought to himself. If the other assassins find out about this happening, I will never hear the end of it
"This fight is mine." He told V. He might as well fight unarmed. He started talking to the gypsy "What's going on and what are you doing here?"

"This fight is mine."
Kadina scoffed and stopped twirling her hair. Her body language went from awkward and uncomfortable to confident and cocky as she crossed her arms over her chest and smirked. His daggers behind him, she knew he couldn't be serious. Hand-to-hand was her expertise... and unlike him, she had a weapon.
"What's going on and what are you doing here?"
"Hey, I'm just a victim of child abuse... As in I was just abused by children. Now I'm being threatened by a weaponless assassin? Does anyone ever take me seriously?"

She crossed her arms as if she didn't think he would be a challenge. Wait, maybe that's her specialty and I'd be walking to my death
He lowered hos fists showing that he wasn't going to attack"Well would you mind telling us what you were doing out here spying on us in the first place?"

"Curiosity. Aren't you flattered I find you both so interesting?" With that, Kadina unfolded her arms and began to approach Elye, but walked directly past him toward his daggers instead. She pulled them from the ground and twirled them skillfully in her hands. "So you're an assassin. Brotherhood or self employed?" Only showing off a bit, she tossed the two daggers up and unsheathed her own before throwing it into the mix and juggling the blades. She bit the tip of her tongue between her teeth to one corner of her mouth in a habit of concentration. Surely Elye and Val found this more amusing than threatening.

As the gypsy and her new acquaintance exchanged what seemed like half-serious threats, Valentina scanned the area to make sure the woman was alone. She owed Elye after today, that was for sure, and didn't want him having to risk his life for her. She wasn't certain what this woman was capable of and wasn't in the mood to be taking any chances. Valentina would be useless in battle as long as her side still stung enough to fight her urge to stand.
"...Does anyone ever take me seriously?" V. hoped that no one would notice her crawl to where Elye had left the jar. She twisted the top and the seal broke with a "pop" that she was hoping would go unheard.
And the tall man continued, unaware of Valentina's hidden agenda, "Well would you mind telling us what you were doing out here spying on us in the first place?"
She scooped out some of the bright orange goo, smearing it over the wound, and in moments the pain subsided and her side became delightfully numb. She quickly returned the tightly closed jar into her pouch for safe keeping, and her hand left the bag with another item in her grasp.
She thought it was funny, thinking back to the days when needles were, in fact, her biggest fear. Figures now they were the only reason she'd find herself alive still today. And with a needle in one hand, she used the other to retrieve another container from her sack. This time, she pulled out a long transparent thread that had a slight green tint. She glanced at the small, thin point and took the thread through the tiny hole.
"Curiosity. Aren't you flattered I find you both so interesting?" The two continued their banter. Valentina payed little attention to the things they were actually saying, and took a deep breath as she began the stitchwork on her side, grimacing as maybe she wasn't as numb as she'd thought. "So you're an assassin. Brotherhood or self employed?" The gypsy's question made Valentina look up, interested in how Elye would respond. She looked down again at her side, finished the last loop and knotted her thread, waiting and wondering which of the two he'd answer. Then she remembered: We still know nothing of this girl.
"Sometimes knowledge is the most powerful weapon of all." Valentina blurted before Elye could talk, dropping her needle and thread in the dirt. She was a bit surprised with herself, since these were words she hadn't heard in years and they invoked memories of their original source that made her lost in thought for a moment. She grabbed her dropped items and waved the needle towards the girl. "I'd advise you stay out of our business." She hesitated for a moment. Valentina, why did you just say "our"?! And why are you holding a flimsy, two-inch needle in her direction? What are you going to do? Sew her a sweater and quick choke her with it? Valentina withdrew the needle and looked away putting her things into her pouch forcefully, feeling foolish and irritated. "What I- What I mean is, why don't you tell us a little about who you are, huh?" And with her things finally packed, she stood next to Elye and folded her arms.

"Sometimes knowledge is the most powerful weapon of all."
"Ahh..." Kadina sheathed her dagger and grabbed the remaining airborne knives mid fall to assist their descent into the earth. She forcefully flung them simultaneously into the ground beside her and went back to crossing her arms. The same crooked smirk never left her face.
"You could take a few lessons from this one." Kadina said to Elye as she pointed to Valentina with her thumb.
"I'd advise you stay out of our business." The way Valentina waved her needle at Kadina only confirmed that no one took her seriously. First with their bare hands, now they thought they could take her down with a sewing needle? Exasperated, Kadina rubbed the tips of her fingers down her eyes and pulled at the lower lids until they revealed the tender pink tissue below her eyeballs. Looking up at the sky, she quietly groaned in half humiliation as Valentina withdrew the needle.
"What I- What I mean is, why don't you tell us a little about who you are, huh?"
Alright, fair enough, though Kadina hated that question. It always created the momentary hesitation for which approach to take for safely identifying herself. Neither seemed to be associated with the Royal Guard, so her renowned name as a swindling low-life thief was probably safe. But if Valentina really was a princess and somehow was in cohorts with Hyrule royalty, this could be a problem. Ah, to hell with it.
"Name's Kadina! I'm a pilfering, conniving, sneaky, typically friendly, horse whispering, bandit-gypsy-felon with a knack for hand-to-hand combat (she raised her brow at Elye), breaking and entering, accidentally electrocuting people, and doing this." She stuck her tongue out and touched to tip of it to the bottom of her nose, her eyes crossing as she looked down to witness the talents of her own slimy tongue. "And that's not even half of what I can do!" She smiled largely as if nothing she had said was the least bit alarming.
"Are we square now? And are you really a princess?" Kadina shifted her weight to one hip and narrowed her eyes at Val. Her finger pointed lazily in front of her to clarify who she was addressing.
