The explosion rattled the inn and little bits of the ceiling shifted and fell from above Kadina. Another explosion sounded, this time from inside the room. Kadina braced herself as debris blasted her. The force flung her from her perch on top of the dresser. She rolled with it until she had hit the oposite wall next to Icylius. Several women marched into the room. Kadina could only witness with her eyes after the explosion had shot her hearing. Maria... Eldrin! Clouds of dust and mounds of rubble obscured most of her vision. She fanned the air infront of her and glanced around for them. Fairly confident that Eldrin could survive this situation like the many others they had encountered, Kadina was still growing weary for Maria. Hope was diminishing by the second that she would make it through the day.
Though it was difficult at first, Kadina began to lift herself from the ground. Her balance was weak and her left arm had been injured from the explosion, but she would fight if the situation called for it. First, however, she wanted answers.
Blood leaked from a gash on her forehead. Her face was powdered with dust, and her eyes were narrowed and threatening. She drew her dagger without asking any questions knowing that if the women meant no harm, they would get the idea and explain. But any closer to her or her friends, and she would not hesitate to attack.

Eldrin took the bread from Kadina with a nodded thanks and started to quietly munch on it. As he was eating he couldn't help but notice a smell lingering on the air. It was a smell that he was very familiar with. Faint, probably unnoticeable to those who did not work with it extensively. Gunpowder.
With a deafening crash the room was shattered. Eldrin jumped back as the window collapsed into itself. He was almost safe when the debris caught his right foot. He hit the ground hard. The spun and twirled about him, ruthlessly twisting his mind as it tried to match his whirling surroundings.
Slowly but surely, his senses reoriented themselves. His eyes focused upon a dusty collapsed room and several strange women entering. Kadina defending Maria alone. He had to help, but his foot was still trapped under the remains of the window. With a combination of intense determination, lots of tugging, and a little digging, he managed to free himself. His leg had taken plenty of damage though. His ankle hurt immensely and his foot was turned at an angle that it probably shouldn't be. Probably broken, he figured. Other than that, countless glass shards of varying sizes stuck out from his leg. Blood ran down his exposed shin where his breeches ended, coating it in scarlet. He gritted his teeth and sucked it up.
It took quite a bit of effort, but the thief stood, and (trying to limp as little as possible) made his way to stand beside Kadina. He could tell her left arm was injured just as his right leg was. "Trade ya," he muttered with a dry chuckle. He drew his own dagger and held it in a backhanded grip alongside Avarice. He watched the approaching women, wondering if it was a good time for a catchy one-liner.

With each passing second the pain of Mathayus' burn elevated. There was literally nothing that the ninja could do to assist any of the people he had agreed to help. He hadn't even known why he started to help them in the first place. Regardless, he was either about to die or maybe the others would swoop in as they always seemed to do whenever one of them was in dire need of assistance. He hoped for the latter. The thought of dying did not concern him, however, it was that Syrus still had his little girl, and now perhaps Max too that really aggravated him. All Mathayus could do was speculate, but if he had to guess it was that Syrus was behind this operation, as well as the organization on the moon. Mathayus pushed such thoughts out of his head, now was not the time for such irrelevancies.
By this time Mathayus felt rather than heard the next explosion detonate above him. Once he had assumed the location to be that of the other's room all hope for his rescue was gone. After the rumbling of the bomb subsided he glanced upward at the woman who was standing on his throat. She applied enough pressure to incapacitate any resistance but held back enough to prevent suffocation. Once Mathayus retained a good focus he could see her issuing orders to others around her. The room was still rather smoke screened so he could only make out vague shadows of the other women that moved about the inn. To him however, it seemed like they were only securing the perimeter.
After a couple of minutes passed the woman that was over him released her foot and knelt down next to his head. She latched on to what was left of his shirt and lifted him up to eye level. The pain of his burn peaked as she did so, and he hissed in agony.
"This is a warning, ninja. Do not pursue this any longer or you and the rest of your friends die. We have the boy, so if you want to see him alive again you will make no attempt to follow, understand?" she warned.
Mathayus' hearing was still not at full operation but he could make out what she was saying by watching her mouth. He said nothing in response, not even a nod was given. A deep hatred was beginning to fester in his gut, he loathed being threatened. Mathayus only answered with a cold, piercing stare into the enemy's eyes. There was no fear in his gaze and anything less than Ganondorf himself would have been intimidated.
"Good."
She proceeded to drop him, but before leaving drilled him in the side with her foot. "Move out." she ordered.
---------------------------------------
The women inside the room with the others fanned out to cover all possible exits before one final woman stalked forth to deliver the very same ultimatum. "None of you are in a condition to fight, I suggest you lower your weapons and cooperate. This is your one and only warning, do not pursue this any farther, and you will live. Continue, and you will die. To ensure you that this is in fact absolute, we are taking the injured woman and the boy is already in our custody. For the sake of your lives and theirs, I would suggest you do not follow this through" the woman's voice was matter of fact sounding as well as condescending. She spoke with utter certainty and nothing else.

Kadina chuckled half-heartedly when Eldrin spoke to her, but she was actually a little concerned . He and Icylius had definitely got the worst of the blow.
She scoffed when the woman spoke. "I feel like you're underestimating me." Kadina swept her shoulder of debris then smirked and glared at the woman with confidence trying to mask her pain. She knew it was ridiculous, that they were outnumbered and injured, but her friends were in danger and that was enough for what happened next.
The bandit picked up a large rock, remains of the wall, and chunked it at the woman with her good arm. With a pack of women now advancing, she drew her dagger and aimed it at the cheap chandelier now barely hanging by a thread after the explosion. It was basically a big wheel of wood with candles mounted around it. The women were smashed and trapped beneath it as Kadina's dagger sliced through the remaining rope that suspended it. Its impact shook the beaten framework of the entire inn and rattled the floor. Three of the women squealed underneath it, but more were in pursuit.
Weary yet fearless, she prepared herself for the next attack. Once in arms reach, she grabbed her charging opponent by the back of the neck, followed through with her momentum, and steered her through the window which had been shattered from the earlier explosion. From that stance, the bandit sharply elbowed another in the nose and sent a fierce jab to her stomach as she recoiled back to her previous position. She couldn't help but wince in pain after delivering the punch with her weak arm and grabbed it involuntarily, a mistake that would end her desperate battle.
Kadina, now examining her arm, was punched in the solar plexus (we like that word, I think) by one of the mysterious women. She yelped and bent forward wrapping her arms around her for further protection as well as comfort. She then took a downward kick to the spine, her vision slowly blurring. Still, she could see her blood drip from her forehead to the broken floorboards under her feet. Suddenly, her head felt like it was splitting in two. Maybe that explosion had done more damage than she thought.
The room now spinning, her breaths short and quiet, she reached her better hand to the floor to catch her fall and steady herself, but she was losing consciousness and would never know exactly how that ended...
(Had to tweak a little. that was awful... and the word 'awful' looks funny to me...)

The woman Kadina had thrown out the window used the extra momentum to flip around and land on her feet. An angry expression appeared on her face as an effect of the furnace of animosity swirling in her gut. They did not have time to fight with these imbiciles, Zael was awaiting their arrival with the woman and child. If they did not return soon he wouldn't be pleased, and the last thing any of them wanted was to piss off the boss. Scourning and clenching her fists the woman reentered the inn to report to thier leader, whom by now was commanding her squad to leave. The ninja lay beaten at her feet.
"Captain," the woman called, fixing her tone to respect. "The group upstairs is putting up heavy resistance."
The captain did not like this news and swore under her breath. "I'll take care of it. Get everyone rounded up and back to Zael. Now." she growled.
While the leader was on her way up the rest of the women fighting with Kadina and Eldrin weren't fairing so well, even with their skills at thier peaks. Several of them had fallen and now only four remained. However their efforts were not in vain, even with the women getting thier asses handed to them they knew that with the injuries that all of the resistance had sustained they could not keep it up.
That was until the captian came up the steps and shouted from the doorway, "Enough! Stand down." When the leader got a good look of what remained of her squad as well as Kadina and Eldrin she knew it was over. "Move out, I'll take it from here," her voice was solid and that of a natural born leader.
Her squadron complied without hesitation and swiftly left through the massive hole in the wall they had entered from. "Now, if you wish to continue the fight, it shall be with me. Although neither of you are in any condition to continue this fight with me. I can assure you I will not be as simple as my squad mates. For the last time I suggest you stand down and do not pursue this matter any longer. The choice is yours." A cold and peircing stare was burrowing its way into Kadina. Her eyes were a clear warning of just how deadly she was, and mercy would not be shown should Kadina and Eldrin choose to fight her.
(I will control her this time, so if you fight, I'll do the post where she fights back)

Eldrin sighed. Kadina had just taken a beating. That meant that he was the last person left to defend them. This was definitely not good, as the pain shooting up his leg clearly told him. He stepped forward as Kadina lost conciousness, standing between the woman and the bandit. "Guess it's just you and me, sweetheart..." he muttered, raising his dagger level with the womans face.
Eldrin rushed forward, bringing his dagger down in an overhead swing with his right hand. Just as his dagger was about to strike, just when his opponent was sure to block, Eldrin broke off of the blow and ducked under her arm. As he brought himself around, the thief swung Avarice at her back.
(Feel free to kick some Eldrin ass... Knock him out perhaps so that you can move the thread forward.)

Mathayus lay quietly on the floor of the decimated inn. His hearing had mostly returned to him now and he had been quietly listening to anything that might be important. It wasn't until another member of her squad had come down to file a status report that he had received any intriguing information.
"I'll take care of it. Get everyone rounded up and back to Zael. Now."
Zael? Who the hell was this guy? It turned out that Mathayus had been wrong. Syrus was not involved in this. It was time for Mathayus to go on a man hunt once again.
The captain stayed still as Eldrin rushed her, calculating and countering every move he could make before he even reached her. "It's over, thief!" she bellowed before ducking under his feeble swing. Like lightning the woman popped up after pivoting around to face him and drove a fist into his ribcage. But as he doubled over she caught him by the throat and slammed him up against the wall. "I do not have time to kill you now, thief. But if I did make no mistake it would be the least bit merciful." She coldly threatened and whipped Eldrin to the floor. After which she proceeded over to the unconscious Maria, slinging her over her shoulder and withdrawing a small silver card from her uniform. She swiped it through the air and opened some sort of dimensional rift. It sounded like a magnificent clap of thunder had exploded in the room as she tore a hole in the fabric of space. On the other side was the vast expanse of the moon with one very classy looking man standing there waiting for her. The captain stepped through and the wormhole immediately snapped shut.
After the woman had left the room Mathayus had entered it. He had carefully made his way up the stairs and into the doorway. He leaned on the side of the frame on his less charred side
He looked like hell and he knew it. "Well," he exclaimed rather fatigued, "Looks like we know how we are getting to the moon."
In his right hand held the exact same silver card the captain had just been holding.

"I... L-love a woman... Who c-can kick my ass..." Eldrin grunted as the woman held him against the wall. But she didn't even seem to notice, and just threw him to the ground. After a disoriented moment, he regained focus just in time to see her walk through some sort of portal, holding Maria and a silver card.
The thief forced himself to his feet and lunged at the lady, but the portal disappeared seconds before he reached it. "Damn it!" he growled. Mathayus entered the room moments later, brandishing a similar card. Eldrin smiled at him as he roused Kadina and Icylius. "Good, let's go get our brat!"

Kadina grumbled as she rolled over on her back in pain. "Now? Ug... I need medical attention... and alcohol. For the love of all that is holy... fetch me a bottle of rum." She rubbed her eyes and the back of her neck. "Those bitches were worse than the Gerudos..."

Mathayus agreed with Kadina, "We're in no condition to go after the boy and woman. We must recuperate."
"Agreed," Icylius interjected, rubbing the back of his head, "We're no good to them if we show up half dead."
Mathayus nodded, "Do any of you know where we could obtain medical attention? I am too injured to attend to my own wounds."

Eldrin scowled. Max couldn't wait for them to get medical pampering. He stepped forward and opened his mouth to say so, but pain surged up his leg as soon as his foot touched the ground. With a shocked gasp, the thief fell on to the bed. "Damn it!" he grumbled, propping himself up with his arms behind him. Blood ran down his cheek from a cut that he didn't remember getting. That one better not scar up too, he thought narrowing his eyes. He couldn't stand the idea of making Maria and the kid wait for them to get better, but then again... He could also barely walk.
"Do any of you know where we could obtain medical attention?" Mathayus asked. Eldrin sighed and nodded.
"Yep, me and Max met a Zora a while back. She's a travelin' healer. I've never seen her in action, but she seems to know her stuff. Plus, it's not like we have much of a choice." Eldrin explained, still pouting a little about their detour.

Kadina perked up. "A zora healer? Yes! We need her immediately! Well... I mean... I don't. A healing potion would be sufficient in my case, but the rest of you look pretty rough. I'm okay though. Really!" She tried to pick herself off the ground, but stumbled. The room felt like it was spinning. Her balance was out of wack and her coordination seemed off when she tried to walk. "Just dizzy is all. Healing potion can fix that righ-- uh oh..." Kadina stumbled over to the broken window and puked outside of it. She wiped her mouth and turned around to suggest, "Maybe... I might... concussion... Mmmm wait, no I don't because never mind." She forced a laugh before massaging her temples and passing out again.
Kadina's subconscious nagged her to wake up. She knew Max and Maria needed them. Not to mention this zora healer could be the one she was looking for, and not just to cure her concussion.

Post by Rii/Thell on Jul 17, 2012 16:39:13 GMT -6
One of Rii's old commissioners had sent her a gift. They had sent her a beautiful cloak, black in color with the inside being lined in purple cloth dotted with pockets for her equipment, and slits in the side of the cloak for her to reach through to get them without unbuckling her cloak. With a large hood and several silver buckles running down the length of it should she want to keep it closed, Rii knew the cloak would prove useful in colder whether. The material also was slick, making it so things like blood would not soak in or stain. And the sleeves! Rii could've entertained herself with how billowy the sleeves were despite keeping close to her skin when she slid the cloak on and put up the hood. In the room she had acquired in an inn, she laid out all her healing supplies. Maybe it would all fit in her cloak?
It did! Experimentally, Rii decided to keep the hood up and buckle up the cloak. Rii twirled to see her reflection. Wow! You couldn't even tell she was a Zora, since her face was in shadow and you could barely see her toes. Even her hands were hidden, though Rii quickly discovered there were ties in the cuffs of the sleeve to cinch the sleeves at the wrist for when she had to work.
It was as she was about to take it off that an explosion shook the inn. Then another. Rii's back hit the wall, dust and pieces of the ceiling fell on her cloak, and her eyes widened. That was unusual, to say the least. She was about to investigate when she heard footsteps going down the hallway. Lots of them. Stern talking then ensued, and Rii's eyes narrowed. She couldn't make out any of it. Then the footsteps were leaving. A minute or two more and Rii heard... thunder? Alright, she had to investigate now. Her supplies were a bit unorganized. She pushed them back into the pockets without even looking to see if they were in the correct spots. Then she threw up her hood in case more ceiling fell. All done, she opened her door.
She barely caught the flash of a man entering a room, but it was enough. She quietly walked down and stopped to hear anything more suspicious. Rii recognized Eldrin's voice, and her eyes widened. He was here? And better yet, the girl's voice sounded familiar... Kadina!
Rii quickly figured out they were all in bad condition from what she heard in their conversation. It was after she heard Kadina speak followed by a thud that she finally decided to make her entrance.
Her jaw tensed at the torn up room and the blood that stained most of it. Eldrin was on the ground, the man from the hallway was propped against a wall, another man stood beside him, and Kadina was passed out. They looked a little worse for wear (if she was to lie and be nice about it), covered in blood, perhaps some of it not their own. She'd have to analyze each of them individually. "I believe I can provide medical attention, if you're willing," Rii informed them in a voice that was almost not her own. It definitely was her voice, but it was somewhat different. It was confident, firm, strong, and lacked the dreaminess and off-putting quality that Rii's voice usually held. She stepped into the room, casting her gaze on all the conscious people in the room.

Mathayus turned his head to the newcomer and nodded in appreciation. He was not one for words, they only bothered him.
Icylius, however, was getting used to the whole talking thing thanks to the brat. "We could really use some..thank you. I think you should start with him." he said, nodding in Mathayus's direction. "His injuries look the worst." And rightly so, Mathayus' injuries were in fact the worst. However, when Rii tried to patch him up he refused her attention until he fixed up the rest of them. "No," he would simply say, "They go first."

Rii would have to return to the first man later, it seemed. Her eyes narrowed as she approached Kadina, already beginning her analysis. "Kadina can't refuse," Rii remarked as she tied her sleeves and revealed her Zora hands, clearly making a jab at Mathayus, yet in a very business like manner. It didn't matter with the unconscious patient. Kadina. Gypsy female. 18. Medium forehead gash, still bleeding. Light internal bleeding on back, result in bruising. Minor sprained wrist. Dislocated left shoulder. Rii quickly reached into her cloak, knowing despite the disorganization exactly what she needed. Out came a paste to spread across the gash, which she spread quickly yet gently, causing the gash to clot. Another she lathered very thinly overtop to prevent infection before she pressed a long strip of linen across it which stuck to the paste.
There was nothing she could really do for the bruising, but Rii quickly addressed the sprained wrist with a cool jelly that acted much like ice, along with a simple splint. The rest would be a small amount of time and rest. As for the shoulder, Rii only had to relocate it. Then Rii turned where she sat on the floor to face Eldrin.
"Eldrin," she said. "You'll behave while I heal you, won't you?" It really was supposed to be a question, but Rii sure didn't make it sound like one as her eyes went narrow once more and she analyzed her patient. If he made some clever comment or something similar after that, she was unaware.
Then she withdrew, quickly creating a small pile of salves that she would use on his right leg that would make the removal of all the glass not so bad. "Your right leg is broken, but you likely guessed that. There are several pieces of glass as well, so sit still and take this so I can do this quickly," Rii explained as she passed him two perfectly normal green leaves tinged white around the edges to ease his pain with. Assuming he was doing as he was told, Rii located her tweezers and went to work. Any healing she did she did as gently as possible, but hopefully the leaves would help too. "As for your leg, it's broken, so all I can do for that is set it straight and bind it and give you more leaves to reduce the pain. At least for now. I can give you a staff to walk with until then, as you better stay off it." And with that Rii was done and waiting for Eldrin to promise her he'd treat the leg right once she set it. Then she could do that and move on to her next patient, but not before. Rii knew Eldrin wasn't one for orders, but she would not budge on this.
(ooc: Just go with me on this one as I figure out the best way to role-play Rii's healing. And I'm just making up some injuries. It's al fun and games and google searches.)
