The glowing sun drifted further down on the horizon as it set. The village began to fall silent as the day went and everyone returned to their homes. An exhausted and hungry Garen came trudging into town. He wiped the sweat from his forehead and scan the town, searching his memory for the location of his father's house. On the west side of town was an average house looking much like the other homes.
He tiredly walked up to its door and knocked. An elderly man slightly shorter than Garen opened it. This man had Greying brown hair and wore different looking clothes than the other townsfolk. His garments seemed as if they were of the Castle Town origin.
This man looked into Garen's eyes and greeted, "Ha! Ha! Well if it ins't the axeman!" Jaru patted Garen's shoulder.
"Father, please. Aren't I old enough to be called my real name, not any of those silly monikers you gave me when I was a young man?" Garne asked annoyed.
"It doesn't matter what age you are, you are still my young boy." Jaru told him. "It is late where are you coming from?" He asked.
"Marched all the way from the Zora's Fountain." Garen replied. He wiped off more sweat and panted, "I wish I brought some of the water along."
"I see you've been traveling for a while, well you and your friends may come inside. As long as you don't break anything." Jaru offered.
"They shouldn't. I warned them not to bring their stupidity." Garen assured his father.
"Warned? Ha! Ha!" Jaru laughed. "Oh, while you're in town, you can stock up on potions if you like. Dangerous world out there."
"Thank you." Garen said. He motioned for his friends to follow inside. It was nice and cool in the houses interior. Garen sat down at the table. His father brought him a bottle of water and he drank up it up fast, feeling more hydrated. He asked, "So how is business going?"
"The shop is still in business and the structure hasn't toppled on itself yet." Jaru joked. "I've been running that shop since you left for the Hyrule guard. The old owner left when they booted their son out and the husband never came back from his adventures." He explained.
"Lonely." Garen commented. He decided to change the subject. "Oh! I almost forgot why I came here. Father, I must a-" He stopped in mid-sentece for a big yawn.
"He He. Tired dog. Why don't you ask me in the morning?" Jaru asked his son.
"I suppose It could wait for a night. Besides, it probably involves a lot of explaination on your part." Garen agreed. "Better to ask when the day is young and we have the energy."
"There is a spare bedroom upstairs for you to sleep in. As for your friends, they could sleep at the local inn." Jaru informed.
"That would be fine." Garen replied.
"I'll be heading to bed in a few minutes. I'm old and need to up early to tend the shop." Jaru stated. "Perhaps you could help?"
"Sorry, father. I am only staying for the night." Garen told him. "It's related to that question."
"I see. Well until then, make yourselves at home." Jaru went into another room to read.
Garen turned to his friends, "Well, what do you think? A nice man, a nice home, a nice town." He motioned for the others to sit at the table.
