Demon Max stood perfectly still, letting Faro strike at him with deadly percision. But Max was ready for him, and everwhere Faro attacked Max hardened the points of contact into a metal like substance, coercing all of his attacks to glance off of him. In order to successfully deflect Faro's assault Demon Max had to withdraw his blade arms to concentrate on the places he needed to harden. He turned to Faro and sighed, "Hm hm hmm, ahhh Malevolence, practically my brother. What a disappointment that I have to kill your host," he laughed, morphing his arms into giant, thick, stone hand. He slammed his hands into the ground, his fingers digging into the soft earth. Demon Max wrenched at the ground and managed to rip out a massive chunk of it. He lifted it up above his head and whipped it at Faro.
The possessed child was laughing uncontrollably and after tossing the chunk of earth at Faro he swirled around to meet Alemine and Icylius. He leaped right in between them morphing his arms back into blades, slashing at them both. One at Alemine's leg, and the other at Icylius's face.
Icylius reacted instantly, ducking under the demon blade by just a hair. He retaliated by slamming a telekinetic fist up under Max's chin, but the kid was too fast and stepped back to dodge it. Icylius was about to take the boy head on when something slammed into his face from the side. Stumbling off to the left he place a hand onto the ground to stabalize himself. Stars danced in his vision and an instant headache raged through his skull. Another kick smashed into his face as he knelt down, and blood spurted from his nose as his head whipped upward. Two punches followed, colliding with his chest and stomach. One last kick to the face sent him onto his back and his vision blurred. "You will die this time Icylius," the woman said, withdrawing her blade and thrusting it down at him.
Demon Max laughed as the unknown woman attacked Icylius, "I admire your enthusiasm, woman, and I will let you finish the boy. But know that now that you have entered this fight, you cannot leave it," The demon said rushing in and slashing wildly at Alemine and the mysterious woman.
(I'll do Max and the demons fight in my next post, that way it isnt so long)

Suaro felt faint, and in pain but he was still alive. He had been knocked out for no more than a minute, but he knew he couldn't get back up and resume battle. Instead he focused on whistling a tune that he learned to manipulate to soothe his, and all those who could hear him's pain, but only just a touch.

Alemine jumped out of the way of the demon boy's attack, but was still grazed by his blade, and she hissed as the blade left a burning but shallow cut along her leg. Then, she snarled as the woman knocked him around, blasting her hard with a gale force gust of wind, throwing her away from her companion. She then gazed down worriedly over her Icylius, her eyes soft in concern for her comrade.
Then she raised her shield up and blocked Max's blow. Her face under went a stunning and fast transformation from an expression of worry to rage. She lunged at the possessed boy with a counterattack, slashing at his ribs, her eyes blazing with indignation and anger. Alemine was more than a little mad now, being that two of her friends were down by this thing, although she forgot this beast was also her own companion.

Faro reacted quickly, sidestepping the chunk of earth. His other hand morphed into the same claw just in time to shove his left hand into it. He spun around and threw it right back at Demon Max.

The woman's blade was an inch from Icylius's heart when a massive gust of wind slammed into her. She was tossed like a ragdoll from where she stood and collided with a tree. What the hell was that? she asked herself, slowly rising to her feet. The woman turned around and witnessed Alemine fighting with the possessed boy, Oh, she thought. The mysterious girl readjusted her belt and gripped her shortsword with a knew found intensity. Icylius had to die for what he did, and nobody was going to stand in her way. Especially not some girl who has feelings for the bastard. Anger overpowered her and she moved in to strike at Alemine.
Demon Max laughed in Alemine's face at her feeble attempt to strike him. "Foolish woman, you cannot hurt me," he laughed parrying her blade. Then a humongous chunk of earth smashed into his back, exploding dirt and other debris in every direction. Demon Max stumbled forward but didn't fall, he looked back at Faro with a scowl on his face. Dirt, dead leaves, and grass littered his hair and clothing. But instead of spitting out some harsh death sentence he chuckled demonically and turned back to Alemine. Faro would be the last one he would kill, and besides, he wasn't finished with the girl yet.
The mysterious woman lunged at Alemine but the possessed child saw her coming and swatted her blade from her hand. "It would be wise to leave here while I am entertained with this one, girl, or like I said, you won't leave here alive," and he slapped her across the face with the flat side of his blade arm. The woman staggered away but in the event of recovering she felt a boot connect with her side and she shot backwards, rolling head over heels.
Demon Max returned to face Alemine once again and morphed one of his blade arms into a giant hammer. He rammed it with all the strength he could muster straight into Alemine's shield. He followed up with an incredulous strike at her sword, attempting to disarm her completely. The possessed child then rolled to her feet and leaped directly vertical in a deadly endeavor to pierce the woman under the chin.
The blade arm was millimeters away from Alemine suddenly an unseen force dragged her away from Max. The demon's strike missing completely. Demon Max snarled something unintelligable and glared over at Icylius, who was sitting up with his hand outstretched toward him. Icylius had a smirk on his face and for the first time it stayed. He pushed himself to his feet, staring into the white eyes of his enthralled friend. "You are starting to irriatate me, boy," the demonic voice bellowed. Demon Max leaped at Icylius and swept his hammer arm at the side of his head, but the teenager palmed it away with the assistance of his telekinesis. The two of them exchanged blows for a while before Demon Max gained the upper hand, morphing his hand into a giant fist and slamming it into Icylius's chest.
The telekinetic teen sailed backward, crashing into a tree and sinking to the ground. The demon boy swirled around slashing his blade arm through the base of a tree. As it fell to the earth he caught it in his hulking fist, then turned to Alemine. He whipped it at her with unbelievable force. Demon Max then turned to Faro and launched himelf in his direction. He thrust out his blade arm toward his heart and the giant fist at his head.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maximus hit the ground hard enough to knock anyone else his age unconscious. The boy had bruises and cuts all over his body and his clothes were torn and tattered. Slowly, the boy began to return to his feet, gritting his teeth to fight though the pain. He was breathing heavily, and as he stood up he reassumed his battle stance. "You can't win boy, give up," the demon demanded. Max sucked in a breath and shook his head in refusal. He had to win, his friends depended on him. The other him stood inside the light still, its arms crossed and a bored look on its face. "You have been throwing yourself at me for nearly an hour. Why continue?" it questioned. "I can't let you hurt my friends, I won't. They are everything to me. And so help me I will die in here before I let you have my body," Max retorted. "Such..determination. Maybe I should let you know that the one you know as Mike has been incapacitated. I have relieved him of his sight and both of his legs. He will be lucky to survive the night. Suaro may have collapesd lungs and will suffocate to death. Icylius is nearly dead, and his little crush is struggling to stay alive. You're friends stand no chance Maxmus. Even if you could take back possession of your body, the damage has been done. Face it, your friends are already dead."
Tears welled up in Max's eyes and he shook his head, "No, no I don't believe you. My friends could easily defeat you. They're all very good at fighting."
"Hm. Listen to yourself boy, you are in denial. Your friends won't even fight me at full strength. They believe that you are still in here, and therefore won't fight me with thier full potential. Don't you see Max, they won't fight to kill, so they are all doomed."
"I won't let that happen!" Max yelled rushing in to engage the demon in combat. The two of them fought for several minutes, exchanging blows at an extremely fast pace. Max's hand to hand combat was unbelievable for a child his age, but unfortunately the demon gained the advantage, delivering a crippling combo to Max's head, stomach, chest, leg and face again. As Max lay on the ground attempting to drag himself up again the demon loomed over him with an ugly scowl on its face. "I'm done playing with you, it's time to end this," he growled.

Garen took note of Max's little cheater move, the ability to harden his skin which would weaken blows. However, could not defend from an attack he couldn't see. Garen popped a portal behind the demon child and opened another near himself, which linked the two. He made a flying kick through the portal and his momentum carried through the portals. He exited the other in the same flying kick form, he aimed for the demon child's head.

Digging her heels into the ground, Alemine put all her weight on her shield arm, her teet rattling with the impact of the blow. But once again, the girl mentally thanked Thea for making her weapons almost invincible. Her act completely dropped, her true colors came into play instantly. She laughed at the demon and did a few minute jumps on the tips of her toes, rolling her neck. But as Icylius went went sailing through the air, her smile faltered slightly.
She blocked the blade Demon Max threw at her and gritted her teeth as the shield couldn't absorb all of the impact, nearly knocking her over and making her head ring and her arm ache. Her sweet, pretty features morphed into a mask of rage as Max once more tried to attack Faro. She flung more storm force wind at him and lunged for him, leaping into the air, her sword raised over her head.
The boy's back to her, Alemine bore down him, the wind pushing her along and knocking the possessed child over, and she twirled the short sword to where the pommel of the sword was pointed at him, and savagely brought the heavy encased metal smashing into his ribs, a sharp crack resounding in the air. The Mycenlaean shoved him down in the dirt, her dark blond hair in her face, her black eyes glittering coldly and a tiny, satisfied smile on her perfect, doll-like lips. Then she leapt off him, literally flying through the air, the wind supporting and moving her as she left the boy to Faro's devices. A broken rib or two wouldn't kill him, but definitely slow the possessed kid down.
Her new target was that strange woman after Icylius. But, anybody after any of her comrades were after her, and she couldn't afford that! She burst to the ground, inches from the woman and smacked her down with her shield, the edge of the circular thick shield smashing into her collarbone. Alemine Solas then spun her short blade back in the proper position and raised it up near her opposite shoulder and with a merciless, stony look on her face, quickly brought it down. Under it all, Alemine was still a Solas, much like her bastard, cruel father.

Faro jumped on the opportuniy created for him by Alemine. He leapt onto Demon Max's back and bound him to the ground with tendrils. Then Faro turned his claw-hands into deformed, bladed flesh-shredders. He began tearing away at the transformed portions of Max's body like a rabid animal.
"You. Shouldn't. Have. Under. Estimated. Me!" Malevolence yelled between strikes.

Demon Max laughed uncontrollably like a maniac as Faro ripped way at him. He seemed to be enjoying it. "Yes! Kill me! Hahaha! But you won't," Max said, seriousness entering his voice as he spoke the last few words. As Faro wrenched away at his arms a massive spike erupted from his chest and slammed into Faro. Demon Max then severed his own bonds and rolled away from his attacker. The demonic boy's arms were dripping blood everywhere as he stood up. "Hm hm hm," he chuckled staring down at his mangled arms. The demon possessed child grunted and the cuts on his arms sealed themsevles, but only enough to stop the bleeding. "All better.. he breathed glaring up at Faro. Then he turned to Alemine. Who was beating on the new girl.
The woman could feel her collar bone break under Alemine's shield and she cried out in pain. She didn't hesitate to dodge Alemine's next attack, jumping backward and out of reach. A hand shot up to her broken bone, clutching it desperately. The woman was unarmed, her shortsword lay on the ground somewhere after the boy had knocked it away from her. She glared helplessly at Alemine, anger and pain flooded her emotions as she thought of losing to this girl.
"You," he growled, glaring at Alemine, "I'ts over for you." Demon Max's insanity grew to new levels as he stalked over to Alemine. He didn't transform any part of his body as he approached her. As he stood before her made his move, morphing his left arm into a giant hook and his other into a gargantuan stone arm. He hooked into Alemine's shield and yanked it violently from her grasp, tossing it into the dirt behind him. Then with the other arm he wrapped the huge stone hand around her throat. Lifting her off the ground he stared into her eyes, his grip tightening to cut off her oxygen. His other arm transformed back into normal as he choked the life from her.
Icylius felt the taste of blood enter his mouth as he gradually returned to his feet, propping a hand up on the tree to hold himself up. Pain was all he could feel throughout his body but he fought through it. He looked over at the battlefield and was horrified to see Demon Max strangling Alemine to death. Icylius tried to rush over to her but mid stride he felt a fist smashed into his gut. He staggered, doubling over from the shockwave of pain sent through his body. Then more pain flashed through him as he felt a punch into his ribs, then another to the side of the face. Stars blasted into his vision and he fell to the ground once again. "You won't be saved this time.." he heard the woman say.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Max began to crawl away, tears streamed down his face. He had failed, and his friends were going to pay for it. Everyone he loved was either going to die or have to kill him. Either way they were going to suffer some sort of pain and trauma. And it was all his fault. He thought of himself standing over the corpses of his friends: Icylius, Eldrin, Kadina, Faro, Blade Torak, Mike, Garen Alemine, Iona, Suaro, Azrael. Even more tears burst forth from his eyes and suddenly he found himself crying hysterically. To make things worse, as he imagined it the bodies of his friends began to appear next to him as he crawled. "No.. he whispered through his weeping, "No..I failed..I'm so sorry everyone." He could hear the demon chuckling behind him, but he came no closer as Max crawled away. Emotional pain ate away at the young boy and he desperately wished Argoth was there to tell him what to do.
Max crawled a little longer until he could no longer force himself to continue. He was too tired from crying. Footsteps echoed toward him and he clamped his eyes shut as he waited for the demon to finish him off....But it never came. Instead he heard a familiar voice say, "Get up kid," Max's eyes snapped open and he looked up at the person who was speaking to him. It was Argoth. Maximus's heart skipped a beat and he launched himself off the ground and onto his old mentor. He sniffed and tried his best to speak, "A-Argoth!..h-how are you here?" he asked through sobs.
Argoth caugh his apprentice in a hug and replied, "We're inside your subconscious, you wished me to be here, so here I am." Max had a puzzled look on his face and looked up at Argoth,"What do you mean?" "Listen kid, we're inside your imagination, your subconscious. Remember when you thought something here, and it echoed throughout the entire place? This place is yours Max, you can do whatever you want here. You thought of me, so now I am here, helping you as you wished. Don't give up Max, you can beat this demon. I know you can." "But..he is so much better than me, I tried to beat him Argoth, I did. And I failed every time..I can't do it..my friends are going to die because of me. Argoth smiled at little Max and said, "Maybe your friends are the answer, kid."
Max was about to reply with a confused answer but then a thought struck him. If he was in his own imagination, he could control everything that goes on here. He knew what he had to do. Max turned back to the other him, who was standing in the same postion as before, arms crossed and bored. "You done? Good. Now lets finish this so I can focus on killing the rest of your friends," the demon taunted. "No, you won't hurt anyone anymore," Max said, determination and anger in his voice. The demon cocked an eyebrow, "And how do you plan to do that?" "Like this." And Max imagined all of his friends coming to help him, all of them standing by his side. As clear as the morning sky they all suddenly appeared, fading into view directly next to Maximus. All of them had smiles on thier faces, just like he imagined. "Alright, guys, this ends now," Max asserted, "Let's get my body back."
The demons eyes augmented and he began to back away slowly. "What the hell is this?" he asked, fear in his voice. "This," Max began, "Is my mind, and I can do what I want in here."
Max pointed at the demon and yelled, "Charge!" and all of his friends surged forward. They began attacking the demon in a syncronized battle formation. Eldrin lit him on fire, Iona electrified him, Suaro blasted him with his flute, Azrael brought up the spirits to help him, Blade, Faro and Torak all brought up thier own demons to combat Max's, Kadina, Mike, Mathayus all whipped projectiles at him simultaneously. Alemine and Icylius worked together, Icylius blasting him with Telekinesis while Alemine hammered on him with her sword, but of course, Max did this on purpose because he knew they liked one another.
Before long the demon was on the ground, defeated. All of Max's friends stood around him, and Max walked up to it with Argoth at his side. "How!? This isn't possible!" it growled in rage. Max shook his head at the demon, "Wrong. This is my body, my mind. I control it, not you. And with the help of my friends I can do anything. I am taking control back now. And you won't ever gain it again," Max explained. The boy turned his back on the battered and bloody demon, walking to a door that suddenly appeard in the darkness. Before he opened it he stared up at Argoth, "Thank you Argoth, for helping me," he said, grateful. "I'm always here for you kid, even if I'm dead. Now go, stop that demon from hurting anyone else." Max nodded and blinked tears from his eyes, then he headed through the door.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the midst of choking Alemine Demon Max's eyes suddenly turned normal again, and with a shriek of horror he dropped the young woman. Now he was just Maximus again. It was finally over.
Icylius felt a boot press down against the back of his neck. The only thing on his mind right now was getting to Alemine, but with this other woman trying to murder him, there was no way he was going to make it in time. This enraged him and he violently released a psychokinetic wave from every pore of his body. Releasing the energy from his body made a loud booming sound and the torrent of kinetic energy threw the woman backward, sending her speeding through the woods. She flipped end over end before finally landing head first into a thick oak tree, knocking her unconscious somewhere away from the battlefield.
Icylius painfully propelled himself to his feet and stumbled over to Alemine. To his surprise though Max had released her, and his eyes were nor crazy bloodthirst were present anymore. The boy was finally back to normal. A small smile stretched across his face as he leaned against a tree and breath a cumbersome sigh of relief. He did it, Icylius didn't know what, but the kid pulled through.

Kadina's attempt to stop the demon had failed and she had begun taking action to get those who were injured away from the battle and find them help. It was all that she determined she could do. There was no chance in hell she would lay a hand on her dear friend, possessed or not, she couldn't bring herself to harm him in any way.
As she was helping Suaro to his feet and pulling his arm around and over her shoulder for support, the chaos had suddenly ceased. Kadina looked up and found herself staring at Max this time. She had to be certain before embracing him in the enormous bear hug she was suddenly urged to give him.
"Max?"

Taking chest rattling gasps of air, Alemine raised a hand to her bruised throat, tears of relief and of pain gushing down her cheeks as sweet, divine air filled her oxygen deprived lungs. She saw that the kid was back to normal, and she was relieved and happy for him, but as her vision cleared, she realized there was resentment among those feelings.
Getting up onto her knees, she wearily and painfully crawled away from the boy, collapsing under the shade of a tree, she shield clattering as it hit the ground. Among everything, her arm throbbed and her head pounded the worst. She would be okay, she knew, but tiredly raising her eyes up to the boy, she wondered if he would ever be, and if she'd ever come to accept him as she used to. For now, that bond of trust was servered, even if he wasn't himself when he nearly killed her.
The Mycenlaean just continued to gulp at the air and she shut her eyes, just wanting to be back home and in the safety of her strange, thieving family.

Maximus glanced around at the wreckage of the battlefield. He said nothing as he surveyed what he had done. Mike lay on the ground, his legs gone and his eyes cut, Suaro was unconscious, Icylius looked like he had taken quite a beating, and Alemine was desperately gasping for air. There was a huge chunk of earth that had been ripped from the ground. Several trees all around him were damaged, presumable by throwing his friends into them. Tears blurred Max's vision and he didn't even hear Kadina call his name. The boy clenched his fists until his knuckles were bleach white. Anger accompanied his sadness, this was all Syrus's fault, he was the one who fused this demon in him.
The sight of his friends in pain made him silently cry, and he began backing away in the horror. This was all his fault, and he knew that some of his friends could never look at him the same. He was a monster, not a boy. His chest began to heave in and out and tears were now steaming heavily down his face. Max turned and started to sprint as fast as he could away from everyone. He had no idea where he was going, but it didn't matter, as long as this demon was inside of him nobody was safe. And if it ever surfaced again they wouldn't be around for him to harm, allowing him enough time to get it back under control again. The troubled child thought it best that he leave, he would go far way, to keep his friends safe from him.
Max could hardly see, the tears in his eyes almost completely consuming his vision. He stumbled several times and crashed into trees more than once. Finally the young assassin breached the edge of the forest and out into the open air, but as soon as he made it out he crashed to the ground in a heap of sobs. He couldn't bear to see his friends like that, pain from him and uncertainty for him hurt like no physical wound anyone could inflict on him. The young boy wished for nothing more than to take it all back like it was a bad dream, waking up in his warm bed in the assassins HQ as if it had never happened. But he couldn't take it back, this was reality, and if he wanted to keep his friends safe he would have to go out on his own.
Max picked himself up off of the ground, wiping his tears away with his arm. He could cry no longer, it was time find somewhere to go. Snowhead, he thought, Maybe I can find somwhere to hide up there.
So the young asssassin pulled himself together and broke out into a jog, heading for refuge.
Icylius felt sadness for the small child, he had been traumatized horrendously. To see all of them hurt like this he knew killed the boy inside. He frowned as he saw Max turn and run away. Icylius felt like running after him, but there was no way he could in his current condition. Wherever Max was headed, he was sure he would turn up sometime. He didn't worry too much about that. At least he hoped.
Icylius sauntered over to Alemine, she was gasping to regain oxygen to her lungs. He could see the clear disdain she felt for the boy. After what he had done Icylius couldn't blame her. Maximus had hurt them all in one way or another, be it physical or emotional. With Alemine it seemed to be both, he kenw she probably wouldn't look at him the same again. Icylius unnoticingly found himself moving in closer to her, in an attempt at comfort. "Are you okay, Alemine?" he asked, concern lacing his words. He knew he was showing feelings for the woman, but somehow it didn't feel so alien to him anymore. Like this was something he could get used to. Something was happening inisde him that he couldn't explain. He cared for Alemine, and showing it seemed a bit easier now for some reason. Probably because she was in pain, he thought. The circumstances seemed to fit his sudden verbal expression of his concern.
(Dont follow him, and if you do, dont find him. After this thread Max will temporarily not be in any more threads. But I will make a follow up thread after this one in snowhead.)

After Maximus darted from the scene, Garen scanned the area and noticed the pain and sadness amongst the others. He himself felt a hurting feeling inside. He knew he had kelt this way before, he had lost some valuble friends during his years in the Hyrule Guard. However, Garen was a soldier. And a soldier must proiritize his objectives.
He lumbered over to the unconcious, leg-less ninja that lay under a tree in a heap. He slapped him across the face multiple times.
"Hey, wake up." He ordered.
Mike opened his eyelids, not single thing could been seen in his point of "view". He immediatly shut his eyes once more and asked, "What happened? Did.. anyone else... die?" Mike breathed heavily, pain remained well within his torso.
"The Gerudo is unconcious and the young teenager is recovering from near strangulation," Garen explained. "Max is back to his regular form. But he took off as soon as he came back."
"Damn," Mike remarked. His voice clearly showed the pain. "The poor kid, he has no parents, he lived a life of poverty.. un-until Argoth rescued him, then his demon killed one our, and one of his only friends. And finally... He hurt more people close to him." He recapped. Although his eyes were cut across, a tear began to form.
"Enough talk. You need to get to a clinic. You are beginning to bleed again," Garen informed.
"What's the point?! My legs are gone, and I'm blind! Have ever seen a blind handicapped ninja?!" Mike's grief was turning to rage. Even worse, he was losing his will to live.
"It doesn't matter! Doctor. Now. You want Max to be happy? Do so by staying alive!" Garen ordered sternly. He hefted Mike over his shoulder and opened a portal to Kakariko Village and marched through.

Faro had fallen to his knees, the spike through his chest, blue light pouring from his opened seals. When Max left, he stood, and a black substance receded from the the spike, back into Faro's body. The portion of the spike sticking out of his back also receded. When it was finished, a much smaller spike fell to the ground.
That was close. Faro thought.
It had to look real, so I made it look real. Realism takes time.
Indeed. You did well. He won't be expecting to see us again. Faro's arms reverted to normal, and his seals closed with five simultaneous pulses of blue energy. Faro looked to the others, he saw two he didn't know retreating through a portal of some kind, he saw two teenagers gasping for breath, one for his injuries, the other for her sobs. He saw another pair holding each other up. He got his coat and put it around the crying girl, he stood back up and addressed everyone in the clearing.
"I will speak to the boy, we are the same, so he might listen to me. Do not lose faith in him, he would not have lost faith in you had things been different." Faro said, he turned and bolted out of the clearly, following Max's trail as quickly as he could. He wanted the boy to have friends despite what had happened. Faro never had friends when he was learning to control Malevolence, and he did not want the same misfortune to befall Max.

Alemine pushed herself back to her feet, very grateful for Faro's jacket, even if the chill she felt was internal as opposed to that of the skin. "I'm fine," the girl said curtly, wanting nothing but a rainy day, a bed, and hours upon hours to kill with sleeping. But she noted the concern Icylius seemed to have for her, and softened slightly. She had the strange desire for the young man to offer her his arm or his shoulder, but, her gasps finally subsiding, she set to recovering her weapons.
Watching Faro leave hot on the trail of Max grimly, Alemine paid heed to his words, but wanted nothing to do with the lad for a while yet. Wrapping her arms around herself, the young Mycenlaean girl seemed to hug herself as slowly, her naivete was shed into the painful wisdom of reality in the course of the current events.
