Icylius noticed Alemine's discomfort as she hugged herself and strangely felt like embracing her. He moved a little closer but unknowingly so. Now that Max had gone he wanted to get out of here. The inn would be an ideal place to go, the woods didn't seem safe to him anymore and he could use some sleep right now. He looked over at Alemine and opened his mouth to ask her if she would like to come with, but no words came out. Maybe asking if she was okay was the extent of his verbal concern. Although in his mind he knew that was far from the truth. So why couldn't he ask her? Perhaps his own distrust of people prevented him from wanting to travel to the inn with her. Icylius was too tired to sort out his feelings, there was an abundance of them floating around inside him currently. After a long nap he would try to figure out what he was feeling. But before heading off to sleep he decided he would stay here long enough to make sure Alemine left okay.
The woman suddenly awoke from her unconsciousness and pushed herself slowly to her feet. She glanced around and noticed Icylius and his companions not far off in the distance. Scowling, she knew attacking now would be futile, the demon child had left and all his companions would assist him if she went in for the kill again. Her collar bone ached and she knew it needed medical attention. She clutched it with her right hand and turned to sprint out of the forest.

Feeling like an empty husk, Alemine simply stared at the ground. The world...it seemed so big, so vast. Stuff like this happens, and stuff like the Legion are formed and...it was all too much. She didn't know what to think or believe. But now it seemed she was changed and she wanted nothing more but to be half her age and have not a care in the world. Ten years ago, she realized, the Legion hadn't even surfaced yet. Ten years ago, her father was still alive. Il Ragnirah was well in his prime. Xanthe and Hastling were about to marry. Everything was better in the past. But she couldn't bring the past back, could she?
Alemine got up, aching all over but was a numb pit in the inside and wearily looked over at everybody. It was as if she aged two decades that day, dark circles under her eyes and her back bent as if with the weight of the world on her shoulders. Her choppy hair was littered with leaves and coated in dirt, just like the rest of her. Blood was splattered here and there. "What now?" she asked everybody as a whole, her tone flat and hopeless, her high, sweet voice cracking.

Suaro coughed and more blood was spat from his throat. He had to lean fully on Kadina in order to stand up at all, although he was glad she was there next to him. He whispered reassuringly to her, "He'll be alright, Kadina. He's a big boy. You don't need to worry. In the short time I've known him, he's been the strongest fighter and the most courageous friend. That demon will never control him. He'll be alright." He finished by asking, "Do you think that you could take me to the inn? I need to get some rest."

"I'm headed to the inn," Icylius answered, "I need some rest." He decided not to leave until he knew what everyone else was going to do.
As Maximus traveled to an unknown location the pain of what he had done plagued him. He didn't know if he could ever face his friends again. Controlling the beast inside of him was his top priority now. Max vowed to himself that he would never let it surface again, nobody would get hurt because of him anymore. "What did I tell you," a very familiar voice murmered behind him. The young assassin whipped around at lightning speed, his fists up and ready to fight. "You!" he yelled, anger in his voice, "Get away from me." Syrus smiled at the young boy, "I told you this would happen Maximus. You're friends are hurt, emotionally and physically. How can you ever face them again?" White hot anger flared up inside of him and Max wanted nothing more than to lunge at the man who turned him into a monster, but he knew fighting him was futile. "I'm not," he growled, "I'm going away. They won't have to worry about me anymore." "Hm, it could you a decade to learn how to control that demon by yourself. Can you really stand to be gone for that long?" A manaical smile peeled Syrus's lips back showing his perfectly white teeth. Tears began to blur Max's vision as he thought upon Syrus's words. He didn't want to be gone for years, and for something he couldn't help. All the memories of him and his friends flooded his mind. Pain and sadness replaced his anger, "Haven't you done enough already!" he yelled. The boy felt defeated, lost, like the entire world was crushing him and he wasn't strong enough to get it off of himself, and there was nobody left that could help him. Max was too young to deal with this much stress, and it was breaking him. "Just leave me alone.." he whispered dropping down to his knees, tears began streaming down his face.
Syrus silently stepped up to the broken child, "I can help you boy. I created that demon, and I know the secrets to controlling it. Come with me, and I can make that horrible curse inside you obey your every command."
Max looked up at him in disgust, "I know what you want, don't try and lie to me it won't work. You just want me as a weapon. Take your offer and shove it," Max retorted.
Syrus just smiled, "You are right Max, I do want you as my own personal weapon. And in your current state I could easily capture you. But I'm not using force this time, I am simply making an offer. I promise you boy, I will make no attempt on enthralling you to my will until you have complete control of that demon. Then you are fair game. So what do you say Max, come with me."
Max backed away from the cold hearted man, "You lie, I know that if I come with you the first thing you will do is knock me out and force me to be your slave. Just leave me alone."
"Fine. I'll let you consider it," Syrus turned around and began to walk away, but stopped a couple steps later. "Just remember Max, I am the only one who can help you. Not even Faro can help. Goodbye." And he was gone.
Maximus sat there for a good while, thinking. "No," he said aloud to himself, "I can do this myself. I won't ever turn to him for help." He returned to his feet and continued his journey to nowhere.

Faro ran through the trees, following Max's trail as best he could. He found it more difficult than usual because he chastised himself for being so stupid. He was foolish to reveal himself to Syrus, and trying to seal an uncontrolled demon was an idiotic idea. Worse still was trying to seal the bloodlust of Max's demon around so many goddamn people, many of whom cared deeply for the boy. In his haste to give the boy control and a chance at a (somewhat) normal life, he may have destroyed any chance he had at achieving either. Faro's own failures were the least of his problems now, though. His top priority was to remind Max that he still had friends, despite the demon's best efforts to take them away. He needed Max to trust him again, so he could make things right. Being lost in his own thoughts caused him to lose several minutes to minor obstacles, and as Faro bounded through the forest, he felt another presence as he continued to track Max. It was Syrus.
Enraged, Faro opened four seals and released Malevolence, sending it after Syrus. It leapt through the shadows of the forest, and landed on Syrus, boring into his skin so he couldn't teleport, and slamming him into a tree.
"Hello Syrus." It sang sinisterly. Before we begin I'll have you know that if you prefer working minions you should forget any plans to capture me. It shifted its grip on Syrus' throat. "So, what did you tell the boy?" It asked.

"We should all head back to the inn." Eldrin said, his voice suddenly stern and mature. His eyes had a levelheaded coldness to them that was strangely uncharacteristic to the thief. A smile lingered on his face as usual, but he wasn't actually happy. In fact he was quite the opposite. He couldn't stand to see Maximus running off to face his problems alone. Suddenly he had an urge to keep all of his friends together, never let them stray into danger or solitude. Of course, he knew this idea was ridiculous. His friends, and he himself, were mostly solitary people by nature, only drawn together in times of crisis and desperation. And furthermore, they could hardly all get along for very long, even he would grow tired of them after a while despite his natural fondness of people.
"Suaro and Icylius are going there already, Kadina needs to help Suaro, and there's no sense in leaving Alemine alone in these woods after the beating she just took." He didn't say why he was willing to tag along... He was too arrogant to admit to the others that he was worried for them. These lands had turned dark lately and it wasn't safe for a company of mostly injured and exhausted people to trek so far unguarded. Especially when one of their own was being hunted. "Kadina can help Suaro, and Icylius if you don't mind, our pretty little friend looks like she's about to pass out." He said, nodding toward Alemine. "I'll make sure nobody walks off a cliff in their distraction." He said, adding a little hollow laugh at the end. Better to seem like his normal cheerful self.
He began to walk out of the clearing and carefully pick a clear path through the woods. Better they stay off the roads so as to not run into brigands and bandits, but they also couldn't afford to be tripping over roots and fallen limbs every couple seconds. As he walked he suddenly caught a strange scent upon the air. A chemical scent, yet unlike the sharp, smoky smell of his and Faro's flames. It was a strange stench, metallic, yet sweet. It was faintly similar to the pleasant scent of coming rain that always made Eldrin so happy, but thicker. He knew the odor well. It was the rare scent of concentrated electricity. He turned around, searching the surrounding trees for Iona. As expected, he saw no sign of her. Iona rarely avoided their notice. That only left one other person...
He waved away the thought, as the person he had thought of was long gone. He turned back and waited for the others to catch up.

Icylius looked nervously over at Alemine as Eldrin told him to help her. His face turned red and looked down at the ground for a moment as he poured over his thoughts. Eldrin was right, the poor girl did look exhausted, and he wanted nothing more than to help her. She could definitely use some help, but Icylius wasn't exactly the best at giving it. He felt obligated to at least try, Eldrin had called on him to. No matter how much he didn't like the guy, he was right, "Uh, yeah," he murmured, moving in closer to Alemine. He wasn't sure what to do, this would be the first time he had helped anyone this way since he was a child. His heart was beating at subsonic speeds, he never thought he would ever get this close to her. "Here, let me help," his voice was almost shaky, the nervousness in it was unavoidable. Icylius hesitantly put an arm around her, giving her someone to lean on. Something inside him screamed for him not to get near Alemine, and he almost withdrew his presence from her. A voice inside his head was yelling for him to back away from the girl, that getting this close to people was no good. It shouted and reminded him of his hatred for other people. Then a single memory silenced all the noise in his head. It was of Max, the sweet, innocent little boy with a big heart. If it weren't for him, Icylius may never have left the Lost Woods. He taught the anti-social, people hating, self loathing teenager what it was to have a friend, and he owed it to the little guy to try and befriend the rest of this misfit bunch. Especially after all that's happened. Unfortunately, it would take him quite a bit longer to warm up to Eldrin. He relaxed his body, but his heart never stopped slamming into his sternum, and he had now doubt that Alemine could feel it. Icylius could feel himself changing, and when he thought about it he wanted to crawl in a bed and never get out. Change was something he didn't want, but it was happening anyway, so he decided he would deal with it. "So uh, let's head to the inn," he said.
Syrus let out a choked laugh, "Ha ha! Ohhh, Malevolence, I don't need you. That boy the only minion I'll ever need. I simply offered to help him control that wretched demon of his. And he'll warm up to the idea too, once he realizes it is simply too difficult to do by himself," he explained with satisfaction. "Have you and Faro come to talk some sense into little Max? Oh how cute, but it won't work. Not even you can help him now, hm hm hm, ha ha ha!"

"You're very confident for a man I could so easily break." Malevolence hissed. "I could take your sight, your hearing, your precious teleportation. I'd take your speech if I wasn't so damn sure you'd find another way to piss me off. It doesn't matter, though. You did to Max what Ganon did to Faro, and he won't give up on the boy without a fight. I hope you have a plan in case Faro succeeds. You may damn well need it." It sneered. "One more thing before I go." Tendrils reached up to Syrus' right eye, and closed in around the socket. They pushed apart the eyelid while thicker tendrils held his head fast to the tree. The tendrils wormed their way underneath his eyelid, and pulled on his eye, threatening to pluck it out. Malevolence's ruby eyes narrowed, tendrils about to make the final tug, a tense moment passed and, they drew back, and Syrus' head and eyelid were freed. "Just kidding." Malevolence chuckled and gave Syrus a light slap on the cheek.

Lost in a sort of exhausted stupor, Alemine froze when she felt Icylius's arm around her. She was cold, and he was surprisingly warm and she flinched, tensing up. This wasn't supposed to be happening...but he was touching her! She relaxed in a stiff, yet delighted sort of wayand she sighed, letting herself lean against him and coming closer to him, wrapping an arm around his waist. She was surprised by his touch and how...well, real and solid he was; as if he was just a figment of her imagination made real. Her heart pounded in her chest and her face burned and she lowered her head, leaning in so that he wouldn't see her scarlet cheeks.
But...in doing so, she heard something that surprised her the most. No, rather sensed it than felt it or even heard it. Being pressed so against him, she could feel his hear seemingly markiing time to the beat of hers, a nervous, jittery sort of erratic waltz. Alemine relaxed then, a rush of warm fondness for the youth bursting in her chest like fireworks, making a smile dawn on her lips, causing her eyes to seem to sparkle. Her heartstrings seemed to sing for him and she felt as though she was flying, though her feet was on the ground.
Closing her eyes, the Mycenlaean girl relaxed, thoroughly content and she struggled not to fall asleep, her hands coming loose and she stumbled, falling against Icylius's form and drunkenly catching herself, grateful her small shield and short sword were strapped to her, else it would've fallen in her fatigue.

Syrus chuckled at Malevolece with satisfaction, "Hm hm hm, good one. Now get off of me," he growled.
Icylius froze when Alemine wrapped her arm around his waist and moved in closer to lean on him. He never expected this sort of reaction. This was the first time he had been this close to someone since his childhood, and despite his normal dislike of human contact, he found this to be extremely enjoyable. Mabye it was because he really liked the girl, but his heart agreed as he felt the twang of affection that one felt for somebody they genuinely cared about. A smile creeped onto his face and as she buried her head into him his cheeks reddened so intensely it was the shade of the rising sun. Icylius felt as if he were on cloud nine, at least on the inside, outside he was doing everything in his power not to let his nervousness show.
He knew that Alemine could at least feel his heart, and in an odd way, he could tell that her's was pacing along with his. Another light smile spread across his face showing the stark white teeth all set perfectly in a row. For the first time in a long time, Icylius felt like he wasn't alone anymore, and with each passing second he could feel himself fall for Alemine more and more. While he thought about his own rampant emotions of something he couldn't exactly understand yet, his arm drew her closer to him.

Malevolence released Syrus and backed away, sinking into the shadows of the trees. "Just remember how easily I could have taken your eye. You are still human, Syrus." It made its way back to Faro, and reunited with him.

"Ah yes," Syrus agreed, "But a very, very dangerous one." Syrus began to to laugh uncontrollably, throwing his head back and everything. And then, almost as if on cue, disappeared. One could almost hear the echo of his maniacal laughter.

A familiar figure watched our heroes from a distance. The large backpack he carried upon his back was weightless to him...he couldn't feel it...perhaps it was because he carried it for so long. "Ohoho...how mortals can fall so easily in line with the plan of the cosmos." He said to himself. Just then, a wooden puppet strode up and stood next to the Mask Salesman. He held something in his hands. "You're back... How did things go?" HMS asked the puppet, turning his head slightly to look at him. "It went well..although I was almost set a blaze due to the ancient fire traps in the damn place.." The puppet said, holding up the item it held in it's hands. "Yes..the ancient worshippers of Din were known for that." HMS said, turning his attention back to our heroes. "Master...a couple of them are leaving." The puppet said. HMS nodded. "Let us..go after them." HMS said, the puppet grabbed onto HMS' hand. They were standing by the heroes one minute...then another..they were in the forest. Watching Syrus offering a deal to little Max. "There is...something...truely evil emitting from that man.." HMS said. The puppet shivered, he was covered by the darkness of the forests. But...he almost looks like a child version of the legendary Hero of Time... "I havn't felt anything of this level of evil...since..before that young boy stopped Majora's Mask..when I first held that evil mask in my hands..." HMS said, for a moment...he thought he could feel the gaze of the evil mask staring at him from inside of his large bag. He shrugged it off...the evil in it was destroyed by the boy. Besides...there were other things at play here. He watched as Syrus was thrown against the tree by the demon, Malevolence. His ears could hear the conversation the demon had with Syrus, and watched as it jokingly tried to rip out the evil one's eye.
